15. So sad. I suppose we should never have thought that the Western nations would

ever have stayed out of Egypt's affairs after they lost their friend and ally, Mubarak.

It is way too strategic to their interests to allow the people to decide how their country should be run.

The people probably do not know who to trust anymore. El Baradei seems trustworthy but no matter who is elected there, they will be under a lot of pressure from the West which is probably what happened with Morsi.

Thanks for following this, Catherina ...

and they totally messed them in their power grab with decrees, disqualifying candidates, dissolving parliament, false starts, reversals, and postponements . They tried to rig them but they couldn't get away with it and Morsi slithered his way to the top.

The elections were far from tidy and honest. The Carter Center condemned them: http://www.middleeastmonitor.com/news/middle-east/3906-carter-centre-condemns-scaf-and-egyptian-elections-committee

55. BREAKING: Head of committee overseeing Egypt constitution referendum resigns

magdi abdelhadi ‏@maegdi

Judge appointed by Mursi to oversee referendum has also jumped ship #egypt

The general secretary of the committee that will oversee the 15 December constitution referendum steps down following Wednesday’s clashes
Ahram Online, Wednesday 5 Dec 2012

Zaghloul El-Balshi, the general secretary of the constitution referendum supreme committee, resigned on Wednesday less than two days after he was appointed by President Mohamed Morsi following the clashes that erupted between supporters and opponents of Morsi.

“I will not participate in a referendum that spilled Egyptian blood,” El-Balshi said in a television interview in the late hours of Wednesday evening.

An afternoon attack by Morsi supporters against anti-Morsi protesters, who began a sit-in in front of the presidential palace on Tuesday, has sparked clashes that left more than 126 injured.

Protesters want Morsi to revoke a controversial decree that shields his decision from judicial review. They also demand that he cancels the referendum on a new-draft constitution, slated for 15 December.

“I call on Morsi to cancel the constitutional declaration immediately,” El-Balshi added.

67. "At least two confirmed deaths in Egypt violence"

...

The armed Brotherhood supporters were reported to have used knives, broken glass, Molotov cocktails, rubber bullets and live ammunition to disperse the opposition sit-in that followed a massive protest outside the presidential palace late on Tuesday, calling for Morsi to step down.

...

Thousands of supporters of Egypt’s President Mohamed Morsi violently attacked and threw out protesters who had gathered by the presidential palace on Wednesday, taking down their tents.

...

The violence continues into Tuesday evening, in what activists have described to Bikyamasr.com as “sad,” “shocking” and “unbelievable.”

...

The Brotherhood supporters were heard screaming “Allah Akbar” as they rushed forward in wave after wave of attack against the protesters against Morsi.
