Teacher put young child in small dark room and forgot, left for the day.

Young child left alone in class: 'He was crying, he was scared'

ALDWELL, Idaho (KBOI) - A young child was locked in a small room at a Treasure Valley elementary and left there for hours.

A Washington Elementary school kindergarten teacher had put Tanner in a "tutor room" during school and then forgot he was in there earlier this week

The teacher then left for the day.

"The door was closed, the lights were off and he was sitting on the floor," said James Cagle, who's son Tanner was left behind. "He had urinated in his pants, he was cold and was crying - he was scared."

The Caldwell School District says it's investigating the situation.

"At this time were finishing up the investigation," said Monica White, assistant superintendent. "We're taking it very serious."

-------------------

"He had taken apart a link in a countdown chain until Christmas and I'm sorry that's not something you put a kid in an isolation cell for," Cagle said.

5. So cute. The teacher should be fired. There is no possible reason to do that to a child

even if she did not leave for the day.

6. That teacher is so fired.

And will never, ever get a contract again.

Justifiably so.

7. Maybe.

On the other hand, aren't the privateers who are driving down teachers' wages able to hire whoever they want?

8. when our daughter was in 3rd grade

...she came in after school all white-as-a-sheet
come to find out, her teacher had been locking her in the closet..among other things...
and this had been going on for MONTHS
and she was too scared to tell us.
and NO, the teacher did not get fired
the principal said 'you have a bank loan'
which we did, for the private school...first and only time any of our children attended one.
we were young and poor but wanted something better for her.
we pulled her out, but there were no repercussions for the teacher,. none.
public school all the way with all of them after that.

but these things do happen.

13. how sad for your daughter. When I was 6, weird crap was happening to us at school, I

didn't tell my mom until I was 12 or older. She wanted to know why I didn't tell her earlier.... I was six, couldn't articulate it, didn't know I had the right to.

9. To Monica White, assistant superintendent: the word is "seriously"

that is something you are taking very seriously, not very *serious*.

The other thing you can take very ...seriously..is the inevitable lawsuit, plus damages to pay for whatever terrors that poor kid has in later life because of this truama.

Man, if that had been my kid, I would not rest until I owned the damn school!!!!!

Poor little tyke.

11. Some people simply aren't capable of dispilining children correctly

Sounds to me like this teacher isn't. He/she should be fired, and the parents should sue the school.

14. Same thing happened to my younger brother in 1963

He was 5, his 22 year old teacher in her first year was according to her attorney just learning how to "exercise" control of the classroom. That woman retired after a lifetime as a teacher just a couple of years ago.
