2. How did you get assigned to the "cute Obama stories" gig?

Sure looks a hell of a lot easier than defending the drone strikes.

3. I figure you've got the reactionary (I mean, radical) ground covered

I think you see what you want to see, wmws . . . in this thread and in the balance of my posts. Let's pretend there's nothing substantive or meaningful in this one . . . Good to see the president interacting with the folks he said were so important to him in the election -- Good to see that he's using real-world concerns from real individuals to highlight the republican intransigence and the misanthropy of their political stances on the pending budget issues and initiatives.

(Apparently, no questions about drone strikes, alas.)

8. What's reactionary about noticing and commenting

on the steady stream of adorable PR you provide? You do an excellent job!

I just think it might be a little unfair to the others. Some of them seem to get pretty testy.

11. it's all out of the box for me, woo

. . . here at DU.

Visuals and timely remarks and statements bring much of what we're looking at in government into a bit of focus. That's what I still believe photo essays and pic threads provide -- something out of the box of the repetitiveness of the very essential advocacy and activism which is at the heart of what goes on here. I bow to your diligence and steadfastness to your causes. I do hope I can illuminate the discussions here with illustrative visuals and color, once in a while.

14. bigtree, I believe strongly that political advertising

should be clearly labeled for what it is, whether it comes from perceived friends or foes. Otherwise that advertising moves into the realm of propaganda.

Do you agree?

Nobody pays me or employs me to post, nor is any of my posting, or the fact that I post here, connected in any way to any organization, group, or person other than myself.

Can you truthfully say the same?

19. I've posted a great deal of my personal life here before

I'm a 30 year union night grocery worker, not some political hack. It's the height of arrogance to assume that your fellow Duer is insincere or operating out of some unethical, ulterior, or compromised motive. I'm not surprised now why you treat so many posters here with contempt.

22. Just to be clear, is that a "yes" to the very specific question I asked?

Can you say everything I did, truthfully? Because your response here is not entirely clear and leaves some room for interpretation.

I don't believe that most people consider themselves to be "political hacks," even and perhaps especially if they are working on behalf of causes that they care about. I never said that I consider anyone who works on behalf of a political cause to be a "hack"...merely that they should disclose what they are doing.

And I believe that many people who are working on behalf of political causes that they care about, also hold other jobs.

I have not accused you of anything. I am merely asking specific questions, because I think DU benefits from clarity when it comes to things like this. You will notice that I did not hesitate to answer the very same questions.

My question is: Can you say the following sentences, entirely truthfully?:

"Nobody pays me or employs me to post, nor is any of my posting, or the fact that I post here, connected in any way to any organization, group, or person other than myself."

Offending anyone here is not my purpose. Neither is pleasing anyone. However, I feel very strongly that all political advertising should be clearly labeled, especially on a board like DU.

10. Does it bother you that

some people don't think he's as horrible and a threat to progressivism as you do? It seems to not be enough to post your threads, but to apparently feel the need to come and deride others.

Yeah, free speech, yadda yadda yadda, but still...can't let anything positive go uncriticized.

21. don't act as if you're not selling anything

. . . or that you hold some diametrically opposite or radical positions than I do.

It's soooo interesting that you completely ignored the substance of the tweets above. I'm sure the woman who responded to the president with her impression of the impact of the budget stances of the republicans got the meat of the president's response. If you follow the link the president provided you can view all of the questions and answers.

What you fail to understand is that your rap is not only stale and boring, it's off-putting and downright insulting to the folks you assume are less progressive or less concerned about the issues and initiatives you profess to represent. You want to be taken seriously? Try respecting the views and try assuming the sincerity of the folks you're speaking with.

23. Again, that's not the point.

It doesn't matter how helpful, true, and virtuous the information provided may be. It also doesn't matter how sincere a poster's political beliefs and convictions may be in conveying that information. I believe that people who work for political causes *usually* do so because they also care passionately about the cause.

My concern is about transparency and disclosure when that is the case.

24. why not just continue to make it all up? What do you need me to respond for?

. . . you post this innuendo of yours like it's a foregone conclusion. Can you read? I'm a night grocery worker. A 30 year union man. I'm a registered Democrat and a member of this discussion board. That's it. No other associations, no other memberships, alliances, employment, or any other compromising reason to post here.

Talk about an easy job! You just make up your own narrative and respond to it. Forget addressing the substance within the post. Forget the answers you've gotten to your brash and suggestive query. Just keep hammering away your imaginary points about some 'transparency' and 'disclosure' and then respond to it. What do you need DU or DUers for that anyway? You can do all that make-believe stuff without talking to anyone but your lonesome self.

I think it's funny/sad how you believe that your own opinions expressed on this board are some inviolable representation of some true progressiveness which gives you license to question the integrity of others here. If you weren't so pathetic in your reasoning, I'd be inclined to think you were just putting everyone on. I think a bit of listening to others here, without the filter of your arrogant, insulting view of your fellow DUers, might just help enlighten you in areas that you haven't personally explored.

This thinking of yours that your participation here is unassailable and unquestionable is an amazing blind spot which looks to be compromising your objectiveness and costing you the comity and respect which is the basis of all reasonable and productive discussion here. Such short-sightedness from someone professing to be so concerned and knowledgeable about the folks you interact with on this board.

when you see either sig, you know it's a personal tweet and not some staffer's.

6. I read it as purple hair is bad for growth.

"cuts w/out revenue = reductions in student loans; work/study & college tax credits expire. Bad for growth. like your hair! -bo"

Like the expiration of college tax credits, her hair is bad for growth. It looks like "bo" meant to use a coma instead of a period.

This is completely in jest. I do find the improper punctuation and capitalization off-putting, though.

But hair has been on my mind a lot lately due to things I've done that have caused severe damage... that's probably why I interpreted it that way.
