Boehner ‘flabbergasted’ Obama offered his campaign promises in debt talks

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) says he was “flabbergasted” when President Barack Obama opened debt talks by offering the same public positions that he campaigned on.

“I was just flabbergasted,” Boehner told Fox News host Chris Wallace on Sunday. “I looked at him and said, ‘You can’t be serious.’ I’ve just never seen anything like it.”

The Speaker insisted that Obama’s first offer was a “non-serious proposal” because it included new stimulus measures.

“They wanted to extend unemployment benefits, they wanted a new stimulus program for infrastructure, they wanted to extend some other tax breaks,” the Ohio Republican said. “And all of this new stimulus spending would literally be more than the spending cuts that he was willing to put on the table.”

1. Boehner is flabbergasted that anybody would keep their campaign promises.

He's never seen anything like it.

3. Boner is flabbergasted that Obama isn't going to rubberstamp

slashing social programs, cutting taxes for the rich, and generally doing all the idiotic things Republicans come up with because they can't seem to admit they've been failing for years.

Obama needs to break out that steamroller. Now would be nice.

4. Negotiating is Tough

Maybe Boehner would be happier in another job, say, one like Mitt Romney has: sitting around the pool all day collecting dividend checks.

6. The rich can fill the bill

Just ending the Bush tax cuts for so few will pay for good things for so many.

Boehner, if he ever wants to be regarded as a statesman, has this one last chance to do the right thing.

8. Boehnor is trying to suck people into

his narratve by punctuating it with deep emotive surprise so folks will follow his drama and not Obama's story. He's using the fact that people's empathy will glue them to Boehnor's emotional display. Because, don't ya know, the GOP only thinks empathy is good when it will help rich people not pay taxes. The rich were so outraged this election that they were no longer admired and given the benefit of the doubt when they called themselves job creators and then didn't create any jobs. Good luck Boehnor with sucking people back in.
