48. Al Gore should add THAT myth to the ones listed in the OP.

He actually DID so in an interview with Jon Stewart
while laughing at those who blamed Nader for his loss in Florida.

54. I am so tired of this 'Gore did nothing BS'.

The lawsuit was titled Bush v Gore. Gore won the recount of votes in Florida's state court. Bush appealed to the Supremes, who over stepped their jurisdiction and the Constitution and handed the presidency to dumbya. Now pray tell, what exactly did Gore fail to do? Other than raise an army and attack DC?

55. Seriously, he fought, the SCOTUS is in dire need of some serious oversight or reconsideration of

lifetime appointments. Those bastards gave the election to BushCo, and at what price I'm left wondering. Who do they answer to?
Like BushCo & the theft of two elections, I'm guessing, fucking no one.

Tell us specifically. He did all he could and Harris and the Supreme Court took it from him.

56. Not sure why my brain insisted it was a sphere...

I don't mind saying I was wrong on something. I see it as a learning experience.

When I learn something factual that contradicts what I thought was true - well,
I'll never make that mistake again.

And, this is what bugs me about republicans: you can show them an absolute true
about something that contradicts their established belief, yet they don't adjust their position based
on truth. You cannot learn and progress unless you embrace the truth.

Anyway, thanks for your post...

sphere = "a round solid figure, or its surface, with every point on its surface equidistant from its center"

The Earth isn't perfectly spherical.

30. WHY is this SO INCONVENIENT?

What are we waiting for, therefore?

Someone passed Carl Sagon's Episode 13 of "Who speaks for the Earth?" which I watched as if it were produced yesterday. These two things are interlinked.

Each was/is telling us what we have heard the American Lung Association say before and should well understand at this point... When you can't breathe, nothing else matters.

God, I'm tired, but we got to still try. I don't want to be one of the planets that has a less than 1% chance of survival.

Isn't this important?

41. As far as climate change - burning fuel is the root cause

Mother Nature spent millions of years to sequester the carbon from the atmosphere
into the ground. The climate stabilized and life, especially humans, flourished.

Now, humans take carbon in the form of coal, oil, and natural gas and burn it. This
releases the carbon back into the atmosphere. Earth, being a giant biological, chemical,
and physical laboratory, reacts to the reintroduction of the carbon. The added heat from
how the earth reacts with the carbon, changes the climate.

The earth could care less about the added carbon and climate changes, however, life
and humans are greatly impacted by the change.

45. I think the thawing tundra will release a devastating short term methane bomb

to raise the atmospheric temperature more rapidly than predicted and the increasing CO2 will sustain the rise and add to it.
It's going to get ugly quickly and I don't think there's anything to be done about it.
I do know what will make it worse and it's following the current fossil fuel regime.

51. My fear is that you are correct.

The current projections are for a steady rise.
I fear that we will be faced with a catastrophic, Tipping Point scenario like you describe.
Some of the early warnings of this Tipping Point are already here.
Several times this year I have heard that the Warming is already exceeding the predictions.
