Fired up, ready to jump!

Yes, my taxes will go up Jan. 1 if there's no deal. But Rush and O'Reilly will take a bigger hit, and that's fine with me.

Still paying taxes after 45+ years of work, and damned glad to do so. We shop for folks on Social Security disability who can't work or shop themselves, and they are in (gasp) government-subsidized apartments that are clean and tidy. That's where some of my tax dollars go, and I'm glad of it.

My tax dollars also go to subsidize the Koch brothers' industries, the oil companies, and insane stuff like W's unnecessary war. Not pleased about that.

But make no mistake: If the GOP wants to hold 98% of Americans hostage so they can gut Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid, and protect the 2% (really the 1/10th of 1% - that's their masters), I'm ready to jump. They underestimate our resolve. Again.

George Bailey had it right:

Just remember this, Mr. Potter, that this rabble you're talking about... they do most of the working and paying and living and dying in this community. Well, is it too much to have them work and pay and live and die in a couple of decent rooms and a bath? Anyway, my father didn't think so. People were human beings to him. But to you, a warped, frustrated old man, they're cattle. Well in my book, my father died a much richer man than you'll ever be!

2. Thanks. If we don't hang together, we will all hang separately.

With apologies to Ben Franklin.

3. Exactly...

I'm sure Ben would be flattered that he is still being quoted, or paraphrased (to be persnickety.)

6. Me too. I might pay a few hundred more a year

But they'll pay millions more!!

Fine with me!

As long as we're not engaging in yet another war and see all our budget flushed down the toilet.

8. I'd actually

like to see the top 1% pay an extra surcharge tax on ALL OF THEIR INCOME.....their capital gains, their interest, and their dividends.....and that 'pass through income' of the hedge fund managers.

Let's say a 10% surcharge. Start with 20% and then compromise on 10%, OK?

9. Works for me. We pay to live in a decent society.

Wasn't that once called patriotism?

10. Raise Mine All That You Want

Just soak those rich bastards who have stolen so much from so many over the last decade. The return of the capital gains rate to 28% is my favorite part of the increases. That will hit Twitts like Mitt the hardest of all.

11. +1, and well said.

They think we're going to fold.

They are wrong. This time, it's the Kochs who fold.

12. I'm jumping too. I call their bluff.

And personally, I have a feeling that this will be more of a bump in the road instead of a scary thrill.

13. I'm glad we have this resolve now, when

many didn't in 2010. The hostage-taking is the same, but the hostage is different. Only now, Obama's reelected. Good for him. Now he needs to do what he was elected to do.

14. Interestingly enough, the creepy freepies are ready to jump too

They all want to fly over the fiscal cliff. I'm not trying to make any kind of snide implications about the poster, just an observation. It seems the politicians are the only ones who want to avert the cliff.

21. Thank you. I've seen RWers try to claim that movie as a justification for their twisted views. That

Potterville is what liberals want with all the "easy women" and booze, etc. As if Rs don't indulge.

They really do miss the most obvious of points.
