Obamacare, the best revenge

They (meaning the right wing repugnants) tried to hang the ACA on Obama. They could not understand that Americans want and need healthcare.
They used the term Obamacare as an invective.
But instead they have memorialized his name and given him an historical legacy.
Most know it was LBJ who gave us Medicare and FDR gave us Social Security.
But future generations will have no doubt who started us down the road to Universal Health Care.
Thanks GOP.

1. I wouldn't stake too much on that

It could have been called HeritageCare, GingrichCare, DoleCare, or RomneyCare just as validly.

12. The point is what it is not labeling.

Elevating the insurance cartel to too big to fail status is revenge on who?

3. Revenge on who?

Obamacare, cribbed directly from Romneycare, based on the philosophy of the Heritage Foundation, who was working on making it Nixoncare.

A healthcare system in which everybody is mandated to pay funds over to the insurance industry, which in turn has few pricing controls put on it, allowing them to jack up premiums as much as they want.

Again, revenge on who?

5. Did you just miss the point of the post?

It could have been called a bunch of things... but it's not!

It's being called Obamacare and in 20 years, no one in the younger generations will ever remember who Romney was.

===

If the GOP continues to call it Obamacare... then it will always be known as such.

4. I fully agree

They thought they were creating a negative term by tacking the word "care" onto the president's name.

"Obamacare" - not to be confused with Obama gives a damn whether you live or die.

11. Anthem - California

It is actually 23.7% and is the Smartsense plan.

You can go to http://companyprofiles.healthcare.gov/ and select California then Anthem, then Compare Rates and see all the rate increases. There is a couple of pages of plans and they all are requesting 23-24% increases.

The Medical Loss Ratio 'feature' - requiring max 20% overhead is easily defeated by these thieves. All they have to do, and it is a ploy from nurse, to doctor, to hospital, to insurer -- to prescribe tests and procedures to increase their 'cost basis'.

The only thing Obamacare did was to remove the more barbaric practices of the health insurance middlemen such as the caps and rescission.

Your thoughts?

13. We need to do a few things to make it work

We need to do a few things to ensure Obamacare works.

(Note: I use "Obamacare" because President Obama himself has endorsed its usage in his last debate.)

1. Make it difficult for businesses to promote their private plans. Create a federal excise fee on private medical insurance and even "out of pocket" expenses if they don't transfer coverage to single-payer. ONLY when everyone has single-payer can we reap the benefits of non-competition greed.

2. Make it difficult for businesses to hire part time workers over full time (30 hours or more) employees. I suggest lowering the workweek to four days a week at 8 hours to maximize the effectiveness of Obamacare. Make it a penalty, equal to or more than the cost of paying the employee Obamacare premium.

3. If a business has to hire part-time, make sure they go through certified temp agencies that pay the Obamacare premium for everyone of their workers, and incorporate it into the temp pay fees.

Once we do these simple, but necessarily across-the-board actions, will Obamacare be a success. From there, we can enact laws that mandate people's activities to ensure they keep down health care costs, such as additional food regulations, sugar item penalties, etc.
