McConnell reportedly "laughed out loud" when Geitner presented the President's tax plan.

George Stephanopolous said this just now on ABC. However. the only other sources I can find are rightwing blogs on the internet.

Either this is utter RW BS spin. Or, McConnell deserves to be drug through the mud as the dead meat lump of obstructionist garbage he is.

Edited to add: ABC just had a full report in which the reporter said that this indeed happened. Apparently, McConnell doesn't want more taxes and does want more cuts to programs. They said the sides are still far apart. Perhaps we need to step up and get the President's back now. No movement and I'm fine with steering this baby off the cliff.

So far, all I have found is RW sites slobbering all over him so I posted this with reservation because you can't believe a damned thing any RWer says now.

8. Seems to me that McConnell is acting awfully entitled.

He feels entitled to dictate to the winners how the spoils will be divided.
He feels entitled to scoff at the suggestions of his commander-in-chief, the dually elected leader of the country to which McConnell has sworn his allegiance. His behavior borders on treason. He could not be trusted in a fight.
He is a loser who acts as if he has the power or right to thwart the will of the majority.
I would say it is time for McConnell and others of his ilk to get their comeuppance.

9. Well, off the cliff we go, then. We cannot afford to keep the Bewsh tax theft in place.

Mitch, why the hell would we touch something that you and your rich handlers are not even going to depend on?

Laughter is the first reaction of the stagnant. The sooner this asshole realizes that the world is changing and less and less people are falling for Reaganomics, austerity, "Grand Bargains", Horatio Alger and "Divide and Conquer", the better off we'll be. Not saying he'll be better off, because he only knows how to demand and get his way.

14. I'd say it is denial of their failure and that they think they can do the same old things they've

been doing for the past decade or more.

13. I'm like a cat I land on my feet

so I'm all for letting this thing blow up in the republiCONs face. At this point the pukes are trying to save face with their benefactors only. They could care less the hardships they cause to the 99% of us.

15. we don't need him to get it through the senate

although it would be nice. He's just being an a$$ who is in denial that his 'one term president' effort was a complete FAIL. I do agreee though the public needs to start getting really really vocal. Maybe those super pacs need to start running some ads about congress!!!!

16. Fine...Then We Do Nada...

Seems like its the rushpublicans and their corporate media toadies who are so frantic about "falling off the cliff". They are wringing their hands in anticipation of the markets crashing 1,000 points and the economy coming to a halt. Ain't gonna happen...not even close. It's a scare tactic in hopes of forcing Democrats into that same "urgent" mode and hopes they'll cave on making cuts to Social Security and Medicare and avoid socking it too hard to the upper 2%.

I'm all for letting us "go over the cliff"...knowing it's only a cliff to those who will see their tax rates rise the highest (the 2%) if the boooosh cuts expire. Let sequestration begin that will hurt Red states far more than Blue ones...and it'll be the rushpublicans who take the hit when the local base or defense contractor shut down.

Let turtleman laugh...he's the one whose about to get some "live action". The filibuster rules will be changed which will diminish his ability to obstruct and division within his own caucus that could lead to his being dumped from his leadership role (which could only be a good thing for America). He's feeling DeMint breathing down his back...that's all he's caring about...his own political hide.

17. Yep. Laugh it up, butthead.

Because three weeks after going off the fiscal cliff (and taking the blame for it) you're going to lose your ability to filibuster.

Har-dee Har Har!

18. I don't see it as "utter RW BS spin".

I see it as McConnell publicly taking the rope that was handed to him, tying it into a noose, and sticking his head in it. I never thought McConnell was all that bright, but I can't believe he is THAT stupid to laugh at the President's tax plan in front of everybody. People are fed up with this kind of shit. That's why the President won his election by over 5 million votes. It's why the Democrats still control the Senate. And, why more people voted for Democrats for Congress, even if they couldn't win back the heavily gerrymandered House.

I am glad this little tidbit came out. People are seeing who is trying to resolve this situation, and who is not. It has been pointed out in numerous places that if we "go off" this alleged "fiscal cliff", it will be the republicans that will catch the bulk of the public's wrath. This kind of childish behavior is exactly why.
