Trying to buy gifts for my nieces and nephews in Israel...

But shipping is exhorbitant. My mother tried to order something through Amazon, but they wanted $138.71 which was more than what my mom bought for the kids.

So _ANY_ help would be great - especially toys.

My mom is trying to ship them all together, so here is the list (if you can help)

1) Educational Insights Micropro 48 - Piece Microscope Set (29.88 in Amazon)
2) Learning Resources Service Station (34.44 in Amazon)
3) Fisher-Price Grow-to-Pro Pogo (34.99 in Amazon)

plus, my nephew needs a Otterbox Defender for his iPod Touch - so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much for any help needed (and my mom too)

2. Have them delivered home

Put them all, if you can, in a USPS international shipping box, and use the postal service.

It should be much cheaper than fed ex or ups.

Make sure to check first if Amazon is checking USPS first. For the record, yes shipping abroad is pricey. But I have used the postal service for that...much cheaper than ups or FedEx.

4. Ah, so you know the pain of shipping overseas - especially from Hawaii.

I suggested the same thing to my parents - but they think it'll cost a fortune. I told them that paying $70-80 is much cheaper than paying $135 (as suggested by Amazon). They disagree. So I'll keep looking... maybe European toy stores can ship cheaper?

8. Maybe I'm not understanding something but why doesn't your mom send their parents the cash

and let them buy the gifts in Israel?

Your mom can send the gift cards even if she wants it to appear as though she bought the items and shipped them?

Or are these things completely unavailable in Israel?

When my daughter lived overseas, I simply sent the cash to her boyfriend along with wrapping paper and gift cards. He purchased the items for me there, wrapped them and labelled them. My daughter was never the wiser. I saved a bunch in shipping costs.

9. Try to place the order through AmazonGlobal instead.

Know it is limited in products, tho. I have stuff shipped to my house and then send to Europe and Israel when there isn't a site like AmazonUK to order from.

Also see: http://doesitshipto.com/does-amazon-ship-to-israel/ for instructions.

Edit - and that price looks high. Also from my bookmarks: http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=596198
