Remember, most of the Dems are millionaires, too.

None of these guys, D or R, wants to raise their own taxes. The Rs are united. The D's are content with sending out a few Blue Dogs to do their dirty work for them.

It's a sad reality we must face. When our election system is so heavily tilted toward the people of privilege, we shouldn't be surprised when it's the people of privilege always getting their way.

The American voters get the politicians they deserve.

The system makes it virtually impossible for anyone but a millionaire to run, therefore Americans only get to "choose" one of the millionaires the system foists upon them. Sure there are exceptions, such as several of the Tea Baggers last year. But once they get in office, they become accustomed to the perks, they start cashing in just like the others, and the cycle repeats.

Besides, the real power players that decide what bills even come up for a vote are all very wealthy people. The "little guys" simply don't have a shot at true representation.

Why don't you try running for a high office and see how far you get without being beholden to the givers of the large donations it takes to get that far?

But your general point holds, and it's a shame really. Any political system where the candidates are exclusively people of immense wealth. . . shameful.
