NTO: Idaho State Sen. Sheryl Nuxoll Claims Mitt Romney Can Still Win Election
(NTO=Not The Onion)
By Michael Allen, Tue, November 27, 2012 Idaho State Sen. Sheryl Nuxoll (R) recently claimed that GOP candidate Mitt Romney still has a chance to win the presidential election if enough states refuse to participate in the Electoral College. On Twitter.com, Nuxoll linked to the debunked idea, which was written by Judson Phillips, founder of Tea Party Nation. Phillips wrote in an op-ed on the 'birther' website WND.net: According to the 12th Amendment, for the Electoral College to be able to select the president, it must have a quorum of two-thirds of the states voting. If enough states refuse to participate, the Electoral College will not have a quorum. If the Electoral College does not have a quorum or otherwise cannot vote or decide, then the responsibility for selecting the president and vice president devolves to the Congress. The House of Representatives selects the president and the Senate selects the vice president. Since the Republicans hold a majority in the House, presumably they would vote for Mitt Romney, and the Democrats in the Senate would vote for Joe Biden for vice president...'' <snip> http://www.opposingviews.com/i/politics/2012-election/idaho-state-sen-sheryl-nuxoll-claims-mitt-romney-can-still-win-election These people must enjoy making fools of themselves.

3. I know exactly what you're talking about

I lived for a period in NW Montana just across the border from Bonner's Ferry, ID. Kinda scary at times but I got used to the weapon check-in at the local bar.

2. Not only is she an idiot, she doesn't know how the Electoral College works

4. So she's advocating that electors refuse to due their duty to even show up
|
and therefore we disregard the Electoral College AND the popular vote to swear in a losing candidate.
And she figures that the MAJORITY of us who voted for the President would just shrug our shoulders and quietly swear that we'd been outmaneuvered, but what else could we do? Good grief, lady - this isn't a Rotary Club vote. We are the friggin' United States of America fer cripes sake. |

5. Ah well some of us held out that same hope in 2000....

Not many, but there were a few. Difference was we weren't trying to toss out legitimate election outcomes...unlike 2000....
