Oh phuck...Ark girl killed by neighbor, parents arrested last year for abusing her...

A 6-year-old girl who was at the center of a high-profile child abuse case that sent her father and stepmother to prison was killed last week by neighbor, Bentonville police said Monday evening.

Jersey Bridgeman was reported missing the morning of Nov. 20. Minutes after a search for her began, Jersey's body was discovered in an abandoned house two doors from her home.

Zachary Holly, 28, who lives next door to where Jersey was staying, is being held in the Benton County Jail on charges of capital murder, kidnapping and residential burglary, police Chief John Simpson said Monday night.

Court records show David Bridgeman told an investigator he cut a belt to fit around his daughter's ankle and chained her to the dresser because she got into medication and other things around the house. He and Jersey's stepmother, Jana Bridgeman, pleaded guilty in June to false imprisonment, permitting abuse of a minor and endangering the welfare of a minor.

Jana Bridgeman is serving a 12-year prison sentence, plus three years for a probation revocation. David Bridgeman is serving an 18-year prison sentence.

1. Must be a nice neighborhood.

Usually such occurrences are a sign of structural problems in the local economy. Maybe Bentonville needs to attract better employers.

3. You mean like WalMart?

Isn't the company's headquarters located in Bentonville? I think it's also where the Walton family originate from IIRC. So I think you're onto something here. For most rural folks, WalMart's the only game in town. Your one-stop retailer, 'Bank of Convenience' (ha!), employer and funeral director, with the added bonus that, upon your demise, the Dead Peasants insurance policy the company took out on your sad ass kicks in to give the Walton family a nice little payout. Welcome to America, folks!

2. Horrific story

It is unimaginable to think one little girl could face so much cruelty in her short life. I have trouble coming to terms with that kind of evil.

5. NOT that those parents didn't deserve severe consequences, but it looks as though prison wasn't

the most potentially effective one, doesn't it.

More proof of our very sad, very fucked-up cultural values.

7. The parents deserved to be locked up

And the little girl deserved a safe home.

We are very stupid, cruel creatures.

A heaven for this poor little girl, and a hell for the adults around her.
