McCain and Graham are irrelevant

New GOP Attack On Susan Rice: She Should Have Manipulated The Intelligence Or Stayed Silent On Benghazi

By Hayes Brown

Emerging from talks with U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Susan Rice, Senate Republicans have a new line of attack on Libya: if it was unclear what happened in Benghazi, why say anything at all in the aftermath?

The newest salvo comes from Sens. John McCain (R-AZ), Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) after a very short-lived detente with the Obama administration on the response to the Sept. 11 assault in Libya.

The three met with Rice behind closed doors on Capitol Hill today and emerged with a new attack campaign, declaring that they only had “more questions” about what the administration knew and when.

<...>

UPDATE Ambassador Rice has issued a statement on her meeting with the Senators:

In the course of the meeting, we explained that the talking points provided by the intelligence community, and the initial assessment upon which they were based, were incorrect in a key respect: there was no protest or demonstration in Benghazi. While we certainly wish that we had had perfect information just days after the terrorist attack, as is often the case, the intelligence assessment has evolved.

Graham is trying hard to win over teabaggers because he's up for re-election in 2014. No one believes their bullshit, and at this point, they're simply making fools of themselves. Please proceed, Senators.

1. So sad

Money quote from the article --->"Rather than acknowledging that the intelligence community had vetted and aided in the drafting of Rice’s unclassified talking points that day, the senators in the post-meeting press conference instead chose to fault Rice for not only failing to be more critical of the assessment she was given but for not potentially revealing classified information."

4. I really wish a Dem Senator would introduce a resolution of censure against

McCain. He needs to be shamed into silence (a la Joseph McCarthy).

ETA: I just called both Feinstein's and Boxer's offices to request that each co-sponsor a motion to censure McCain. I was apoplectic when I was on the phone but I'm pretty sure each staffer understood why I was so furious.

2. I don't get Kelly Ayotte. What is the up side of hooking up with the two Pukes that...

the other Pukes hate? Is she going to pick up the Cranky Old Coot banner when Lindsey and John get primaried out of the GOTP? Is there a benefit to that?

7. She needs to rethink this, because NH is not a conservative state.

12. She wants to look like she belongs there.

She doesn't. Total lightweight.

There are just enough dolts in New Hampshire however that she could keep her job for awhile.

3. It's unfortunate the press doesn't feel the same; that's all I've heard about

since I got home.

8. Someone should investigate why McCain is wasting

time on this witchhunt.

5. I agree the whole GOP is irrelevant but sadly when they want to cut programs they

become the most important people in the world and we must compromise with them. Today they are irrelevant, yesterday they were racist vote suppressing criminals, tomorrow they will be our bipartisan partners. Lather, rise, repeat...
The administration needs to email us to let us know when we are supposed to say the GOP is wrong and does not matter and when we are supposed to say they are our friends and we must please them by cutting grandma's retirement.

6. Just like Dumbo!

He's irrelevant, too. LOL! (H/T Chico Marx in "Duck Soup")

...but seriously, McCain and Graham have to be two of the stupidest dicks in the Republican Party - and that is saying plenty. They have the Republican Disease - they will not back down even when they are completely wrong. The press let them get away with their monumental bullshit for so long they still think they can get away with it, and it is quite fun to watch their little fantasy world crumble before their eyes (although I'm sure it's no fun for Amb. Rice). Wish I could be there when they finally pee in their panties, but then they can always borrow a few Pampers from Sen. Vitter.
And Kelly Ayotte must be an absolute fucking moron. Say goodbye to any presidential ambitions you once had, honey. Gramps and Queen Lindsey pissed that away for you, you teabagging idiot.

9. Unfortunately, they can still hold up legislation, put holds on nominees, etc.

10. They can try, but that doesn't make them relevant.

McCain has had no relevance. In fact, he spent the last several years voting against bills that passed. He complained about the treatment of Veterans and then voted against the Veterans jobs bill.

He's useless.

11. they are threatening to put a hold on her nomination, if she is nominated

which would essentially kill Obama's choice.

this is the republican idea of working together.

15. riderinthestorm, why can't you find your own information?

"All over this thread too but can't take the time to link to the ACA info"

Yeah, I started this thread. I don't feel like taking the time to find information for you. Do you mind?

Did you think I'm obligated to do it, or are you demanding I do it?

Either way...you're one your own.
