3. To see a child of mine

trusting in the solidity of such a precipitous promontory would make me cry, yes, and maybe shake uncontrollably.

4. I would be so angry at my child. Look how easily the stone breaks.

But I would turn it into a learning experience for them and not hold a grudge or anything self-righteous.

5. I'd be pissed. But then, I have photos of me hanging over

a cliff of the Grand Canyon with one leg and arm out. I deserved a Darwin, I admit it.

6. My knees are all wobbly looking at it!

I'm not a mom, but -- "GET AWAY FROM THAT EDGE YOUNG LADY OR SO HELP ME---!!!!"

Sorry, but the adult of the species has some sort of biological need to stp the young from being in danger.

7. She's not even my daughter and my palms begin to sweat when I look at that photo

I can imagine how I'd feel if she were my child.

8. I don't know if it would make me cry, but that rock doesn't really look all that stable

to me with all those splits and layers.

9. I was terrified for 2 whole months

when my daughter went to Central America when she was 19, by herself and roaming about.

every day was torture back here, because she would send me pictures as terrifying to me as this one was to her mom.

but I am a worrier and she is an adventurer. She will never forget the absolutely wonderful time she had there and the amazing things she did. We laugh now, but yeh, those 2 months were torture on ma.

10. What a beautiful shot, the young woman, the site. Not knowing what is under her makes

me uncomfortable of course.

11. No, because I would assume it's a trick of the camera.

I cry when shit like this becomes news, though. So thanks for that.

16. Could easily be photoshopped

the light does NOT look right to me...& the way her feet are hanging off unsupported.

I think the whole foreground rock is patched in, actually. The more I look at it, the more I say Fun with Photoshop.

13. There's a similar picture of me at the same age..

although it looks like I'm on the edge of a cliff, I'm not; the angle at which it was taken makes it look so.

14. If she was standing I'd be freaked out

But I'm sure she's fine. It looks like clear weather, not too windy - she's safe.

15. It's not so much that she's at the edge as that the rock that she's on looks to crumble easily.

Looks like she shouldn't be out on the platform at all, imo.

21. People die at the Grand Canyon all the time when they ignore the signs.

The signs are all over the place. It's up to a mile to the bottom. That rock she's trusting is sedimentary rock. It's layed down in layers, which you can even see it the pic.

I wouldn't trust my life to it for something important, let alone a cheesy picture.

Probably photoshopped. Nobody would be that ignorant... Well, on second thought...
