A perfect gift for any friend who thinks they want to secede....http://www.amazon.com/Atlas-Remote-Islands-Judith-Schalansky/dp/014311820X
For those who find it difficult to believe that there are still isolated, secluded, and uninhabited or sparsely populated pockets of land anchored firmly in the midst of the Arctic, Atlantic, Indian, Pacific, and Antarctic Oceans, this quietly beautiful and subtly evocative book is a must read. Firm in her conviction that atlases should take a much-deserved place in the literary pantheon and that there is “no more poetic book in the world,” her cartographic drawings are accompanied by compelling narratives, outlining the history, natural science, local lore, and legend of each of the 50 islands she visually and textually conjures up out of her impeccable research and vivid imaginings. An armchair traveler’s delight, this book will also beckon, challenge, and inspire intrepid explorers and exotically inclined vacationers. --Margaret Flanagan ![]() Seriously, there has to be at least one island that can hold about 10k-20k spoiled rotten sore losers so they can have fun with their 'no-government' island and leave the rest of us alone.

1. Ought to be able to get low-lying ones cheap...
|
...after all, everybody else is falling for that "global warming" stuff, but these guys "know" it's a hoax!
So put your money where your mouths are, guys, and buy up waterfront property that everyone else thinks will be flood-prone or underwater in decades to come. |

2. The biggest problem is they'd never do it.

Too much work to survive in isolation

8. Considering that they like to milk such things for all they're worth,
|
by the time such checks made it to them they'd be rotten cheese
Then again, that's what cheese is, and to quote Chef! "Gone off milk full of bugs and mold!" |

10. But if they are no longer citizens, they are not
|
eligible for such social safety net benefits. They would have to apply for foreign aid... and that could be easily dealt with by using the ever delightfully karmic NO... and HELL NO! Get it from your bankster buddies since they convinced you to be so effing ignorant in the first place.
Gosh, that would be a little bit mean but purely appropriate and enjoyable. |

12. As far as I know, they'd only be ineligible
|
if they renounced their citizenship. I don't see these blustering "Patriots" doing such a thing, much less moving out of the country.
As I said initially, living on their own (whether on a island or elsewhere) would be too much work. Once that part was shown to them, they'd drop even the suggestion that they might move away. |

3. Maybe one of those billionaires can buy an island and declare it a sovereign nation.
|
If they hate the American government so much why don't they run their own and get the fuck out of here?

6. ONE Way to
|
anyplace outside the US of A.
I could see this as an option for those who would like to secede... Finding a place that will take them in without a viable passport might be tough though... And once they leave, that's it buckaroo, no re-entry... at least not without valid visa and passport of course. What goes around comes around after all. |
