(The moral of the story is that feminism has killed mens boners.)
Having overwhelmingly lost the vote of women, especially single women, in 2012, the intellectuals at FoxNews have devised a cunning plan. Make sure they lose them even worse by saying societys ills, such as they imagine them, can be laid at the feet of all the single ladies.

Women arent women anymore.
To say gender relations have changed dramatically is an understatement. Ever since the sexual revolution, there has been a profound overhaul in the way men and women interact. Men havent changed much they had no revolution that demanded it but women have changed dramatically.
In a nutshell, women are angry. Theyre also defensive, though often unknowingly. Thats because theyve been raised to think of men as the enemy. Armed with this new attitude, women pushed men off their pedestal (women had their own pedestal, but feminists convinced them otherwise) and climbed up to take what they were taught to believe was rightfully theirs.
Now the men have nowhere to go.

(39,961 posts)The problem is that many men - by no means all or even the majority of them, but many - were raised to think that they are the masters of the universe and are shocked to discover that no one owes them anything. They aren't "owed" a wife to cater to their every need. They aren't "owed" higher pay and a good job just because they are men, and they aren't "owed" anything that anyone else isn't.
That's the problem. Make no mistake, we still have MANY elements of patriarchy in our society - religion is the biggest facilitator of it. Why do you think there is a war on teachers and many public sector jobs? It's a pathway for a woman to survive on her own.
Women who buy into this anti-abortion, anti-contraceptive BS are shooting themselves in the foot. It's about nothing more than forcing women "back into their place" of being baby factories and nothing more.

(31,706 posts)Bullshit Mountain took quite a hit on Election Day. They led their brainstems into believing skewed polls and that EVERYONE hates President Obama so there was sure to be a "Chic Fil A" wave of rushpublicans to the polls and sweep Willard to victory. The moment Rove thew his shitfit and the bubble burst...the reailty was too much and viewers tuned out in droves. My bets are the only ones left were those of us gawking for the pure schadenfraude.
Add to that problem, the network's big story, Benghazi, totally fizzled. So what's Ailes and Ilk to do to "restore" their street cred among the great unhinged? Conjure up yet another "poutrage"...and here it is. Tailor-made as the network's main audience are old white males who now have yet another reason to feel persecuted.

(35,934 posts)the "headship" concept of religions. That man is to be the spiritual head of all structures from the 'base' family 'upwards' to national and international institutions. Such authoritarian structures are built on this concept. That society 'falls' with the rise of women's equality. Another zero sum game. Then again, if men have most of the money and guns, this campaign could get pretty ugly. It's better that this whole attempt gets nipped in the bud.

I don't think too many are worried about their gender role. At least those under a certain age.
My own husband is helping to raise two daughters at 7 and 8 that are strong and take no crap from anyone. They might be feminists someday. The horror.
There are plenty of good men out there that are good husbands, work hard and may also be helping to raise kids. I know a few of them in my family and among my friends. Great guys who don't treat women like second class citizens and believe in the rights of women. I count my husband among them. What is this nutball who wrote this smoking?

(6,286 posts)I have a strong wife and two daughters of my own. I love them all to pieces.
Every single day I pound the truth into my daughters' heads: "Don't let anyone tell you that you can't do something, especially because you're a girl. Don't let any man try to possess you. If you need someone to look up to, take a look at your mother. She and I speak with one voice on this issue and that's why I knew she'd be a great mom."
I can tell by the friends they bring over that this line of thought is not yet prevalent.

(6,286 posts)but we have an understanding that if we are coming at a problem from two different directions, we table it until we can get alone to hammer it out. That way we don't get the kids trotting back and forth until they get the answer they want.
Of course, we're not always both present for discussions, so sometimes they'll ask me something, I'll give an answer, and then they'll go to my wife, who may have a different answer. So you deal with it the best you can. Usually it ends with one of us capitulating or both of us compromising. Regardless, when the dust has settled, there is one voice in the house.

The nature of a men. Hmm. Let's see... independent, in charge, self-reliant.
This means a real man is able and willing to
- repair
- cook
- bake
- clean dishes
- clean floors
- iron laundry
- make the bed
- patch worn-out socks
- dust
- take out the trash
- plan a balanced diet for several days in advance and stay within budget
- do all the menial inglorious tasks that eat away your spare time but keep the household running
Or maybe I'm wrong and the "male nature" consists of considering certain tasks beneath him.

(1,385 posts)changes of the last 100 years. ( sorry I don't have a link) the 3 were the invention of the integrated circuit, the space program, and reliable contraception. The 1st and 2nd are pretty obvious. The 3rd was important because it freed women from constant childbearing and rearing, gave women the ability to pursue their own goals - independent of men. It was upending thousands of years of patriarchial culture, and that culture would not go quietly or quickly. Those of us who thought we had won the war, should realize that it was just a skirmish, and we have many battles yet to win. I agree that religion is an important source of that culture.

(1,569 posts)It really goes back to the 1800s, but the effects weren't becoming fully revolutionary until early in the 20th century. Widespread mechanical automation and the related "urbanization" of America arguably did more to disrupt the gender politics that had existed for millennia than any thing until perhaps the advent of reliable contraception.
When nearly everyone had to physically labor virtually every day just to survive and the best investment a family could make were children who could help on the farm--well, it wasn't just ignorance or chauvinism that caused relatively sharp gender roles. Pregnant women, most with a flock of other children to nurse and care for weren't a "threat" to male-dominated employment opportunities of the day. Those "male" jobs weren't attractive either, most were heavily physical and dangerous.
Of course, there is no excuse for injustices. Not every woman was married with children and not every job was physically beyond every woman. Women should have always had the vote, same pay for equal work, and opportunities to pursue many more professions. However, society always has been formed by "norms" and in a sweat-equity, contraceptive-free world, the norm was very much the woman in the house and the man in the fields, mines, forests, etc. It was a pretty brutish option-free life for the vast majority of people. The wealthy, as always, had much different experiences and we tend to look back on the late 1800s and early 1900s through glasses fogged with things we absolutely take for granted.
Almost all jobs today are truly options for women, not just because we are "enlightened" but also because the jobs of today aren't primarily based on brute strength. Even today's stereotypical "manly" jobs (logging for instance) are vastly less demanding. A chainsaw is hard to wrangle for an 8-hour shift, but it is much easier than sweating on a platform with a two-person hand bucksaw for 12-15 hour days.

(24,759 posts)They're still whiny, tantrum-throwing little boys in men's bodies. They're still 2 years old in some respects, such as their collective emotional development.
Why do we women have to waste our talents, put our hopes and dreams on hold, and act like we're less of human beings so childish men can feel a little bigger and more powerful? There's no war on men; if there is one, it's a struggle against little boys grown tall.

Where else can you find such crybabies?
I must admit, I use Fox news as an accuracy meter. If they are saying it on Fox it's probably wrong.
