Don't know about other Democrats but I'm ready to pick a fight...

with the GOP as Congress reconvenes tomorrow.
I'm ready to fight about:
the filibuster
Medicare
Medicaid
Social Security
Taxing the rich
legalizing cannabis
reforming the prison for profit system
fighting for strong industry regulations for the environment and banking and a host of others that need it.

My elected officials in DC will know I'm ready for the fight they better wage for me.

I know that at least at the state level-some are missing in my state...

I'm doing the same thing-I have been for years-the difference since the election is I now am on hold when I rarely was before. I suspect (hope) many are using their voice to let Our elected officials understand, with Crystal Clarity, they are Not speaking for the majority of us, offer ideas, definitely express support for some Major "teat sucking" expenditures that only serve the wealthy--

Big Oil Subsidies, is another one
along with the "Fiscal Cliff"
Extending UI Benefits
Filibuster Reform
Internet Privacy
Reminding them that in the early '80's Reagan nearly doubled FICA b/c of the "Baby-Boomers" mass exodus from work-happening now. So we paid for our parents/grand-parents as per norm--but Also had to cover ours in advance.
There are so many things-Womens Rights-Marriage Equality, Vets the list is nearly endless...
Thanks

3. A lot of people are ready to fight. Let's hope our elected officials

are not going to cave. I hope they understand why we supported them. It was NOT so they could 'bargain' away a single dime of the people's money. Let's hope they understand that.

20. And if they cave in (likely)?

I expect the president to make major concessions on almost everything (like last time). Then what?

28. Cut #1 allow the Congress to retire on SS. #2 Cut the Military by 50% #3 Cut

the mercenaries out of our budget. #4 eliminate the cap on SS wages.
Those will do far a start.

7. There is just no downside to it

What ... the GOP will cooperate if we don't? They are already acting like they won the election. This is going to be a VERY ugly fight over the next decade, but it will last decades longer if we DON'T fight. I don't mind reasonable compromise, but TeaBags don't even have the word "reasonable" in their vocabulary.

For once, I hope they fight and I hope Reid nails them on the filibuster. Shut it down? Right. Let 'em.

8. Be prepared to pick a LOT of fights for the next fifteen years, since that's how long it will take

to keep the old school baggers down until more rational elected officials learn bipartisanship in the House. We've turned a 30-year dominance into a new direction. We have to pick our battles carefully to gain more long-term momentum.

19. Letters to the Editor, let your Congresscritters in on your thoughts,

CERTAINLY write the White House. Get fax #s. Back & run progressive candidates in local elections. Take over school boards. Create & strengthen a liberal culture in your corner of the social media. Join your local Democratic party (you'll probably find them a lot more progressive than the state & national orgs). Honor & participate in labor actions such as strikes. Just don't let up. The time between the election seasons is more important than the campaigns themselves for building long-term political strength. Educate people. Don't let hateful teabaggery go unchallenged wherever it occurs.

That's for starters.

21. Yes tell them that this is their last chance to play the role of the Labor Party

If they do not, history has shown major shifts in politics when the people finally realize they are not being represented. And we may be at that turning point right now.

If Dems do not want to represent Labor, we will know that after the Lame Duck Congress. There will be another election in two years. We the people have one thing to bargain with, votes.

Up to now they didn't feel they had to do anything to get those votes. Now is the time to tell them, 'those days are gone'. They want our votes, then earn them this time.

24. They don't give a crap. They know we won't vote for Republicans

So they are not afraid of us not voting for them. They know we will.

That's the problem with the two-party system we have going here.

25. They don't know what we will do. And we are pretty tired of them

taking votes for granted. No, we will not vote for Republicans, but if they betray the people on SS, I can guarantee there will a huge difference in the next election.

I eg, people will be looking for Independent candidates, like Bernie Sanders. A lot of people are coming to the conclusion that party politics is not good for anyone but the top 1% and if people start now, they can start finding good candidates to get behind in their own districts.

The Unions eg, reluctantly stuck with Dems this time, but have warned them that they no longer trust them and have begun to form coalitions with other groups, Progressive organizations eg and SS acvocacy groups whose members are now out of patience and while they voted for Dems this time it was very cautiously.

That coalition was formed before this election with the warning to Dems that while they would vote for them this time, they did not trust them.

Large movements are forming that can change the political landscape. That is a beginning of creating better choices, at least in Congress. Things are changing very fast. No politician should take votes for granted nor should they ever have been allowed to do so.

So, it's up to Dems now. Stand up for the people or the people will stand up for themselves.

legalizing cannabis
reforming the prison for profit system

#1 will force #2.

Overturning Citizens United. Unless that it done and getting money out of politics we can kiss the other things goodbye.
