1. My daughter works part-time at Target and gets health insurance. End of discussion.

2. The "tu quoque" fallacy...

That Target may or may not abuse their employees does not absolve Walmart.

3. I thought it took three wrongs to make a right?

So this is confusing to me.

7. Actually, it takes three lefts to make a right.

Philosophy is so confusing.

4. Target is different

They pay benefits and better wages, don't face lawsuits for discrimination against women, and don't exert the same kind of pressure on suppliers to lower prices, which has prompted many companies to outsource jobs abroad. You can tell the rightie that not all big chains practice predatory business practices, like WalMart, and that you choose to patronize stores that treat their employees reasonably.

6. Exactly. They say crap like this without a shred of evidence.

I'd ask for links. And not links to some right-wing blog that just said it's so. I'd want a link from a reliable source.

9. In my neck of the woods...

This doesn't say much.

This is probably useless, too. http://w5blog.com/author/aswain/page/2/

Can't really help on the wages comparison, because WalMart's economies of scale outstrip Target's so far, though Target's catching up. Also, Target's (and Costco's) customer socioeconomics are higher.

10. WalMart is the country's largest private sector employer

Target is not.

Anything WM does and gets away with is soon adopted by other retailers.
