HICKORY, N.C.
In the last four years, the number of militia groups in the United States has grown to more than 1,200.

"Everybody needs to be living by these rules," said Commander James Kendrick with the Freedom Warriors National Militia.

James Kendrick, his wife Trin, and some of their friends spend a lot of time in uniform despite never being in any part of the military.

They are all members of the Freedom Warriors National Militia in Hickory and claim their standards rival the U.S. military.

3. LOL. Ok.

Same standards as the military? Maybe.

Do you have a pulse? Check. Can you spell your name? Check. Can you run ten miles then do 100 push ups? No?
Ok then, we'll let you join anyways.

6. "Kendrick said he is disabled and gets assistance"

He also lives in government housing. So we are paying for him to runaround and play soldier? Then he can work.

You can't make this stuff up.

17. Since when was running 10 miles and doing 100 push-ups required in the military?

Army: Maybe
Marines: Probably
Air Force: What are you smoking?

22. Depends on what you do.

Offices jockeys still have to qualify yearly.

Although its a bare minimum of physical evaluation. I think it is a mile run and some push ups.

23. I was air force for 8 years. Never asked to do a push-up after basic training.

And the 1.5 mile run was replaced with the stationary cycle in 1993 (my last year).

24. LOL, my sister was a medic and had to do the

mile run back in the eighties. She was skinny with bad knees and later her and my brother in law( also in the Air Force) had to put packs of ice on her knees. Poor thing, I have a photo of her with the bags of ice that probably weighed more than her

She left when they decided to start a family and would have loved doing the stationary bike instead.

4. What a bunch of losers.

Even in their own military they can only achieve certain ranks. If I was head of a militia I wouldn't just be a commander. I would be 10 Star Megasupreme Ruler of the Universe.

10. OMG! That is classic.

How long do I have to enlist for to achieve that rank?

7. It said they have 15 members , not a very big group

I don't care how they spend their time as long as they aren't hurting anyone.

12. The only problems that I have with these groups are...

1.) Most of them are reekingly racist/sexist/homophobic/faux-elitist/would-be plutocratic
2.) a little too quick with the gun triggers
3.) EVERY time a group like this starts up, LEOs start asking questions about metal and chemical purchases. (grumble.)

19. If they just stayed in crazyland, I wouldn't have as much of a problem with them as I do...

It's just that every time some nutbag starts up with this kind of thing, I seem to find athletic young man and women that are simply fascinated by my building projects, and the supplies that go with them. (It's the shoes that give them away. That, and cops always seem to be have a locked-in set to their face.)

Seriously, If the militia goobers are going to keep up "teh crazy." I'll have to stock up on coffee...

"Big" - to be polite - militia warrior, skilled in the ways of war...

Crashing through the woods, like a drunken bear.
