Fabulous interview with Kushner who wrote the screenplay for "Lincoln."

1. I saw Lincoln today.

It is a great movie. When I got home I was able to watch Up which I had recorded, so I was able to see the Kushner interview with Chris. Two more things to be thankful for.

2. Hubby and I are going to see it Tuesday. I had no idea that the whole movie is about the effort to

get the 13th amendment through Congress.

I'd be interested to know how it got thru the 3/4 states it takes to amend the Constitution...

3. I saw the movie last night. I came home wanting to know more

about Lincoln and Thaddeus Stevens. It made me realize just how superficially our educational system covers American history, with jingoistic phrases and cliches. Maybe I just wasn't interested at the time, but I certainly don't remember any in depth lessons about the points made in the movie about just how (and why) the 13th Amendment was passed.

The movie has inspired me to learn more......

4. Kushner talked about Stevens in part of the interview. Fascinating man.

I expect Tommy Lee Jones to get a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination.

5. I hope so. His performance was wonderful.

Lewis's Lincoln was an object of fascination but Jones had to carry Stevens just on the strength of the performance since we don't have an image of him so much. He knocked hell out of that role. And his last scene was a brilliant LOL!

6. Tommy Lee Jones was wonderful as Thaddeus Stevens. After the movie,

I think we talked more about him than we did about Lincoln!

8. I was wondering if she might get Best Actress in a Supporing Role...I just love this Oscar stuff.

I've seen 3 movies with actors who could wind up in the Best Actor category: Ben Affleck in Argo, Denzel Washington in Flight, Richard Gere in Arbitrage.
