Another fox news take on food stamps: make burritos, french toast (a treat)

Mayor Cory Booker to Live off Food Stamps For A Week

FoxNews also published an ignorant piece titled “Food stamp menu ideas for Newark Mayor Cory Booker,” in which they randomly list off burritos, casseroles and soup as cheap and easy meals. They even suggest French Toast — because “being on food stamps doesn’t mean denying yourself a treat.”

They continue:

French toast is best made with stale bread, which is always a bargain at the store.

1. I would love to see them go on the food stamp challenge for a week.

There is no sense of right and wrong with fox.

3. It should be for a month, since they are monthly.

2. The fux at Fox probably spend more in one day on meals

than a food stamp recipient receives for a month.

4. Yeah, stale bread! Why stop there, how about MOLDY bread?

You can cut the moldy parts off. Or cover it with egg batter.

5. It is like $4 a day per person

There's no way to make casseroles and french toast and soup and feed a family of four for $16 in a day. Have these people ever gone grocery shopping?

I can see soup but that's it. I think though that you'd end up having to eat the cheapest stuff you can find, which is like off brand icky frozen pizza and that kind of thing. You'd need to get as many calories as you could for your money so you didn't feel hungry all the time. It would not be a healthy diet.
