If there's one thing I WON'T be doing today.

It will be getting within 5 miles of ANY store or mall.

I've got groceries and gas. don't need anything else at this point.

4. I quit doing that years ago....

...I buy all presents online. No more all day shopping trips and everything I buy is delivered to the front door!

6. I like to spend money locally.

That does not require all day shopping, nor shopping on 'big days' it just requires leaving the house once or twice....

8. It's actually a good day for grocery shopping

Everyone stocked up on food before Thanksgiving and is hitting the malls now. Grocery stores are empty on black Friday.

10. Not in Big Rapids, MI, it isn't.

Where the only grocers are:

a) Walmart
b) Meier's

Both of which are the same damned thing, and are right next door to one another. I am short on groceries, but Hell if I am going to town today. I think I'll go out to eat tonight in Hawkins, MI (pop. 64)

16. Wow, your choices suck

I like to shop at Giant Eagle because they're unionized and they're a real grocery, not one one of those giant mega discount stores that also sells groceries. If my only choices were two big box discount stores, I don't know what I'd do for food.

19. Agreed.

That's the only shopping I do on Black Friday. I do most of my Xmas shopping online or the first week in December. I hate crowds.

11. I agree

My granddaughter and I are gonna build a secret hideout in the woods. I figure that is one of the best Christmas gifts I could give her. I know it's the best she could give me. Peace to all.

20. Just like

When I was a kid we would build "forts" in the woods. No I am not a "end-times person" haha. Just a fun place to hang out and tell your friends you have a secret place.

21. How cool.

As a kid we had acres of woods behind our house and would spend every day back there, often making forts. What was really neat was that the area used to be a vineyard and there were old wooden logs all over the place. A lot of our forts looked like log cabins.

I loved the Secret Garden as a kid and after reading it wanted to have such a place of my own. Still do.

Also, don't overlook the trees. Many a fine hideout's been hidden in the canopies overhead.

Have fun!

I hate shopping any time! If I have to, I take advantage of being self employed to go on weekdays!

I have food and don't need gas. Grocery shopping is lays easy the day after. In fact it's the slowest shopping day ever.

No reason to get within 5 miles of any store or mall except there all within five miles of where I live.
