Any news yet on Walmart walkout ?

I drove home today by the one in my town.
Shoppers are already lined in front of the door.

1. It will take brave picketers to keep shoppers away from the door-busters.

2. My relative just left to go to work at WalMart. He normally doesn't go in til 10:00pm. But they

wanted him in at 7:00pm. He left at 5:30pm to make sure he'll be able to find a parking spot. I told him to be careful there are crazy people out there standing in those lines.

3. Perhaps I'm confused but I thought the point was

for the employees to walk out when the doors open?

Not to stop shoppers from going in.

Leaving nothing but management to run the busiest shopping day of the year.

4. Stand with Walmart Strikers on Black Friday -- Campaign Materials

I'd suggest singing the modified lyics to Jingle Bells far from the entrance where Walmart shoppers are flooding in.

5. I guess we will find out in a few hours if they walk out. Also

Not all stores managed to organize actual pickets from what I read at their on-line organization.

Or did they mean Black Friday, and somehow today isn't it?????

Anyway stores open at 8pm so not too long to wait for East Coast information for tonight.

I'm going to head over to what appears will be an active protest store iin a bit, west coast time.

6. My daughter-in-law

works at a Wal-Mart in Wichita, KS. I texted her at 2:00 this afternoon to wish her a happy Thanksgiving and told her to give my baby grandson hugs and kisses from Grammy. I was shocked when she immediately texted back that she was at work and would give the baby my love when she gets to go home in the morning.

I was so furious that she had to work today that I didn't even think to ask if anyone was participating in the walkout at her store. I doubt it, really, since Kansas is almost as red a state as Oklahoma.

7. I'm not that mad at Wal-Mart individually, but I am upset over the consistent

encroachment by retail businesses into the family/free time of working class people.

Does anyone remember when almost EVERYTHING was closed on Sunday?

10. Friday morning...

Don't worry, by the time I go to cover the one my editor wants in San Diego, it will be morning somewhere. My local areas are at a time they will be noticeable. For the moment listening to my local fire eaters, frustrated as hell, brush fire in a very in accessible area and it is after sundown. Water drops will be permitted, but...

Thanks though, I need to get gear ready for tomorrow.

Believe it or not, safety related. Some of the crap I am reading though, I was debating the zoom, I am taking the zoom. Might get a twofer. (Two stories for the price of one trolley ticket. )
