http://www.alternet.org/economy/macys-ceo-american-people-drop-deadMacys is a powerful symbol of Thanksgiving, with its festive parade and freakishly large floats. But Macys CEO Terry Lundgren is part of a group of greedy, unpatriotic CEOs who would like to seize this moment of American hardship and tear the rug out from under hard-working families. Moms, dads, grandparents, kidshed like to take a little something from each of you. Especially if you're poor: hed really like to get into your purses.
Lundgren and a coalition of other big-time CEOs are lobbying Congress to cut Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security benefits so that they can enjoy tax breaks. Obviously, Lundgren did not take Econ 101, which would have demonstrated to him that reaching into the pockets of people will leave them without enough dollars to buy your products. Its very simple, Mr. Lundgren. Your job and your stores are supported by the spending power of the American consumer. Robbing that consumer by hacking away at hard-earned retirements and healthcare is not going to help your bottom line.
Jobs, not austerity, is the path to a healthier economy. Just ask Europe.
Lundgren and his band of reverse Robin Hoods, part of a campaign called Fix the Debt founded by "catfood commissioners" Erskine Bowles and Alan Simpson, have ganged up to influence post-election policy by spreading the myth that our main problem is long-term debt and deficits, rather than high unemployment. They actually like high unemployment, because it keeps their workers in check. Theyre out holding town halls, trying to buy or rent members of Congress, and otherwise throwing their weight around.

(776 posts)All luxury & pretty high end crap.
I have about $800 a month left after after healthcare but before food.
The only thing Macy's sells that I need in new condition is socks & boxer shorts. All other clothing (except boots/sneakers) comes from Goodwill/consignment shops or Craigslist.
As far as boots go I got hi end hiking boots made in china they only last 2 years (someone gave me $70 Kohls $$$ & I have 20% off), I am saving up for some American made Redwing boots that cost $300 & my last pair lasted for 10 years. They needed new vibram soles & like a chump I bought imported boots. None of the imports have lasted more than 2-3 yrs max.
No matter how big Macy's future sales are, no one from this house (they all have more $$$ & dress better than me....) will set foot in that store again.
Seriously on craigslist I got a brand new Kevlar m/c jacket that retailed for $500 for $75!! down side I had to drive 45 minutes to get it.
Anything I ever need except sox & boxers, I check craigslist in Philly, Allentown, Reading, Lancaster & Delaware & 95% of the time I find what I NEED for cheap as hell. A little travel is required but I only get what I need so its about 2-3 trips a year.
Almost forgot $80 m/c gloves $20!!
