They're taking Reagan off Mt. Rushmore to put Obama up?

He's awesome but it's a little early for that. Jeez.

3. One of my Republican acquaintances said the Democrats

want to put Obama on Mount Rushmore soon as they find some black granite. I told him he was a typical Republican he wants to make everything about race. The guy is an ass, worked a union job all his life took his union pension and went back to work as management now he hates unions.

7. I wonder how many Republicans think their own union is great but bash all the others.

I'll bet there's a lot.

13. This a a true story -

Just last fall we visited Mt. Rushmore while on an extended vacation.. It was a gorgeous sunny fall day to be sitting in the amphitheater while my wife was in the visitors center for a few minutes, and look up at the four great presidents, as if they were actually real. You'd swear they were alive, watching over the folks that came to view them. The feeling was surreal. It was a very moving experience.

Two 30-ish men sat down near me, and one said to the other "they'd never get Obama up there, the granite is too white" The other laughed and said, "yeah and there isn't enough black paint back in Custer to do the job, anyway" I wanted to cold cock the both of them.

There isn't a place on this earth where these bigoted fuckers aren't present, in some form.

6. FDR first, then we'll talk others

Not that anyone should be added to Rushmore - but Roosevelt and his legacy are criminally unappreciated by the Democrats - and every time the GOP was trying to force Reagan's "legacy" by renaming something after Saint Bonzo, the Dems should have blocked it and insisted FDR was more important

10. I want to see Franklin Delano Roosevelt up on Mount Rushmore.

PBS is running an excellent documentary about the Dustbowl of the thirties, which has just reminded me of yet another massive debt the American people owe to Franklin Roosevelt. They did careful, difficult, laborious work to reclaim all that land before it could become a new Saraha desert. And that was only one of their massive achievements. He also spearheaded efforts to organize huge relief operations to bring food to starving people, sweeping financial sector reforms, public works projects that created or improve dams and electrical systems, and our modern National Parks. He and his band of tireless brilliant experts must have saved the lives of millions of people. And both of my parents were among the children he saved. So I owe my whole life to him. I wonder how many others like me there are. And then he showed the same spirit in helping us stand up to the Axis powers in World War II. Truly, he was a great President! And, the whole time, he was slowly dying of the effects of that illness (polio?). If anybody belongs up on Mount Rushmore, it is Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
