12. Newsmeat...had to look that one up.

I was going to say Brody's too exotic looking,

but then I thought he looks more like the Bernays character ought to look!

4. Of those corporations listed that I know, they seem about right. It also shows pretty clearly

that the best thing to do is to avoid all corporations whenever possible.

6. Good point. Though, that's probably pretty hard to do. Definitely when purchasing flights, for one.

9. I disagree that companies like yahoo, Southwest, AOL, etc. lean left.

And here is what wiki had to say about Dell:

Criticism

In the April 2011 issue of Mother Jones, a timeline of Michael Dell's life is included in the article American Magnate: Michael Dell: How a homegrown geek outsourced, downsized, and tax-breaked his way to the top. The article juxtaposes the CEO's spending on luxurious homes and private jet travel with his pursuit of tax breaks and tax holidays and Dell Computer's eventual offshoring of jobs overseas after receiving the incentives for setting up shop locally.

Don't know why Dell would deserve the left going out of its way to buy Dell products.

I could certainly agree that we should shop small businesses, preferably local ones, a whenever possible.

However, I cannot agree that we should avoid all corporations..

I basically incorporated myself once. I was the sole owner, director and officer of my corporation, as well as its only employee. No one else was involved. I incorporated to limit my personal liability. Thousands of corporations are like mine was.

I am not sure what purpose would be served by avoiding a corporation like that.

On the other hands, some pretty cutthroat businesses started as unincorporated sole proprietorships or unincorporated partnerships. I

13. It clearly says Dell leans Republican.

Dell Inc. - Leans Republican
Donations :$1,223,316 (2004-2008)
Democrat : 28% Republican : 72%

Same with Southwest:

Southwest Airlines - Republican
Donations :$647,275 (2004-2008)
Democrat : 25% Republican : 75%

I agree generally with your other points.

19. Yeah, that's part of what I was asking in the OP. But, isn't that still better than them bribing

more Rs? There must be some benefit to having money spent that's not enriching Rs. Maybe I'm grasping here, but...

I'd still like to support the lesser of evils, so even if all corporations are bad, some must be less bad than others.

5. I'm confused over United-Continental Airlines.

So now that they've merged, are their respective biases effectively a wash?

7. I didn't realize they had merged! So much for my plans to fly United, based on that site. That also

indicates that the site's not up to date. Not a good sign.

11. Ugh Disney...

I'd rather support Republican companies than companies that are supporting copyright fascism. Disney's ideal copyright laws sound like something the Koch brothers would shit out.

17. News Corp?

This is a bit of a surprise. News Corp is Democratic? The Open Secrets link bears it out. The corporate webs are baffling to me. Has anyone told Rupert Murdoch about this?
