Corporate Giant Kaiser Permanente Comes Out Against GMOsLast edited Mon Nov 19, 2012, 02:33 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1) http://www.willamettelive.com/2012/news/corporate-giant-comes-out-against-gmos/
Corporate Giant Comes Out Against GMOs By: Salem Weekly Editors November 15, 2012
It has come to our attention that Kaiser Permanente, the largest managed healthcare organization in the United States, has advised its members against GMOs (genetically modified organisms) in food. In its Northwest Fall 2012 newsletter, Kaiser suggested membership limit exposure to genetically modified organisms. “GMOs have been added to our food supply since 1994, but most people don’t know it because the United States does not require labeling of GMOs,” according to the newsletter. Sounding like a radical organic health proponent, the huge corporate Kaiser continued, “Despite what the biotech industry might say, there is little research on the long-term effects of GMOs on human health.” Independent studies have shown GMOs to cause organ damage in rats and the inability to reproduce. Kaiser gave tips on how its members can avoid GMOs, including buying organic, looking for the “Non-GMO Project Verified” seal and to download the “ShopNoGMO” app. <>

8. Say what you will about Kaiser,
|
they have one of the best Certified Farmers' Markets in my town. Every Wednesday morning and they're always giving away free stuff. Plus, almost all the vendors are organic.

9. Kaiser has
|
really changed. Back in the Bay Area in the '80's and '90's, they were the worst.
If I have been eating gmo foods since 1994, then I must be feeling what the rats did. Guess they should be doing autopsies of people dying. I wonder what they would look for?? The thought of eating viruses or bacteria makes me |

12. A family member works for Kaiser in the Bay Area and say the new CEO is a good man,
|
who actually worked his way up the ladder. Here is an article recently sent to me:

11. Kaiser totally sucks
|
I have them and have probably never been more disgusted with any corporation. They'd much rather deny care than provide it. Sometimes it's hard to believe the lengths they'll go to in order to not see you or not treat you. Anyways that's been my experience with them.
I look forward to single payer some day, and dancing on Kaiser's grave. Glad to see they've come out against GMOs. For that, I rec'd this thread. They're large and powerful, they could bring a lot of weight to this issue. |

16. i had to fight kaiser for a colonoscopy
|
which is a recommended diagnostic tool. they buckled pretty quickly. after my primary physician denied it, i contacted corporate office and they let me have one. i did have to change PP's, but that was ok, i didn't like her anyway. the only other problem i have had is that they change my PP frequently. just when you are happy and get used to one, they are gone
