Janis Joplin. Cry Baby. Priceless

Who wants to wish John Boehner a happy birthday?

Janis Joplin Does! Happy Birthday Mr. Speaker!

Lyrics....
Cry baby, cry baby, cry baby,
Honey, welcome back home.
I know she told you,
Honey I know she told you that she loved you
Much more than I did,
But all I know is that she left you,
And you swear that you just don't know why,
But you know, honey I'll always,
I'll always be around if you ever want me
Come on and cry, cry baby, cry baby, cry baby,
Oh honey, welcome back home.
Don't you know, honey,
Ain't nobody ever gonna love you
The way I try to do ?
Who'll take all your pain,
Honey, your heartache, too ?
And if you need me, you know
That I'll always be around if you ever want me
Come on and cry, cry baby, cry baby, cry baby,
Oh daddy, like you always saying to do.
And when you walk around the world, babe,
You said you'd try to look for the end of the road,
You might find out later that the road'll end in Detroit,
Honey, the road'll even end in Kathmandu.
You can go all around the world
Trying to find something to do with your life, baby,
When you only gotta do one thing well,
You only gotta do one thing well to make it in this world, babe.
You got a woman waiting for you there,
All you ever gotta do is be a good man one time to one woman
And that'll be the end of the road, babe,
I know you got more tears to share, babe,
So come on, come on, come on, come on, come on,
And cry, cry baby, cry baby, cry baby.
And if you ever feel a little lonely, dear,
I want you to come on, come on to your mama now,
And if you ever want a little love of a woman
Come on and baby baby baby babe babe baby now
Cry baby yeah.

4. Ballad of John Boehner

The Ballad Of John Boehner

Come and listen to a story about a man named John
A poor bartender, barely kept his family fed,
Then one day he was pourin'
a little drink
When in through the door came Newt with a wink

Spoils he promised
Insider trading
No more  Long Island Teas

Well the first thing you know ol John's  a millionaire,
Kinfolk said  John, can you help us out over here
John said,  I gotta get away and find a new place
So he loaded up the truck and moved to Chevy Chase

Capital Hill, that is
Swimmin' pools
No green fees

Well now it's time to say good by to John and all his kin.
Cantor and the Tea Party have all been droppin' in
Eric and and his gang have been persuasive fellers
If John doesn't follow orders they
make  him watch "Old Yeller"

5. I'm sorry but the juxtaposition of Janis Joplin and the boner is an offense against nature. n/t

7. why pray tell... Janis is calling Boner an asshole

in my juxtaposition...definition:an act or instance of placing close together or side by side, especially for comparison or contrast.
Note Contrast!

I love the late Great Janis Joplin!

9. Cry Baby is one of the most emotional and moving recordings in history. Placing it next to

that asshole, in any context, is like putting the Mona Lisa next to a Kardashian sucking the corporate cock of Pepsi and saying, "see, this is better".

Edited to add: I understand what you were doing, as well as the definition of the word juxtaposition.

Edited again to add this; This is the closest thing I could find on YouTube to try to convey what the real thing was. It is a poor, pale, and pathetic shadow of what was, but then, that itself is an apt analogy for these times.

Enjoy.

13. I see that you see what I was saying. She didn't have a great voice, and maybe just because she was

the first live concert I saw, but just listening to her sing still brings tears to my eyes.

I have some original recordings of her live, they are among my most treasured possessions, and don't really treasure possessions.

Peace to you as well, and please, save the fucking world from us.

15. There is nothing that has not wrung tears from my eyes over the last 30 some days

They are both tears of grief and joy!
The election certainly! That was joy. Family trauma ...oh yes that has been an issue that has brought on tears of grief. Most recent news makes it tears of relief!

Just listening to Janis sing makes me cry...happy and sad tears! She was great and she died so very young!

10. So sad that she died so young!

Born January 19, 1943, in Port Arthur, Texas, Janis Joplin developed a love of music at an early age, but her career never really took off until she joined Big Brother in 1966. Their album Cheap Thrills was a huge hit, but caused strife between Joplin and the band. Joplin left and her second solo album became her most successful, but she died of an accidental overdose before it was released.

11. Never anyone like her before she arrived on stage, no one has come close since she left

I have several of her albums on vinyl and listen to them on my great record player. You just can't believe the difference. Where ever her soul resides today, I hope she has found peace. I doubt Boehner ever will....

14. Hi Sam....You are correct. Boehner will never find peace

However Janis has. She remains in our hearts and minds as one of the Greatest!
Boehner in his lifetime will never achieve that!

16. I have the vinyl, too.

I listen to the CDs from the boxed set more than the vinyl. I want to hang onto the vinyl.

I heard her in concert, just a few months before she died. We were right down front, only a few rows back.
