Holy shit. Utter rationality breaks out in Freeper discussion of Iraq!

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2960350/posts

You ought to be pissed off at Bush, Cheney, Wolfowitz, Perle, and the other neocons who pushed us into this stupid invasion. Remember their promises? It will be quick and easy, the Iragi people will love us, and their oil will more than pay for the war?

This was the dumbest military move since Custer decided to pimp with a few Indians. I don’t know how any of those people can look in a mirror.

Oh, we couldn’t do that. Remember? Bush said the oil belonged to the Iraqi people. I guess he was too damned dumb to see it was paid for with American blood. I hate that damned deceiver.

I so regret supporting that G**-damned war there.

Thank Dubya. It was his great idea to nation build in that cesspool.

How many American lives did we waste for these idiots?

All those wasted lives,,,and money. And what did it get us? A new ally for Iran. I was an idiot for supporting this fiasco, too.

So much for the lame "we have to give a presidency decades to see how it turns out" bullshit.

Republicans are trying to shift focus from the fact that they supported Romney. They're trying to look reasonable.

Suck it Republicans! You own Bush, McCain, Palin and Mitt, who aspired to be worse than Bush.

for the 8 years under Shrub. They sat back while Darth manufactured war after war and raided the treasury and dared them to complain (which they didn't) - all in the name of upholding the oft-promoted "11th Commandment" that Raygun always cited -

“Thou shalt not speak ill of any Republican. Henceforth, if any Republican has a grievance against another, that grievance is not to be bared publicly.”

That has been about as bad as Norquist's "no taxes pledge" and has been around for almost 45 years, and they are apparently not even "grieving" to each other in private either.

No one gets these wars. Not Iraq, where we're still spending money, or Afghanistan either. Ending the PNAC view of projecting corporate interests through military power may be low-hanging fruit going forward.

The Neocon creed. Expand America's commercial interests through projection of military power. Invading Iraq was the quintessential example.

23. There really are two camps within the Conservative movement.
Sun Nov 18, 2012, 06:41 PM
Nov 2012

The Libertarian wing and social conservatives, AKA Christofascists.

Sometimes they energize each other, sometimes they fight each other.

At FR the libertarians usually have to keep quiet about abortion and often get attacked over being anti imperialist.

The fundamental divide is around 'can government be good - for anything- or is it inherently evil and thus the smaller the better.

The libertarians have a point in that, left or right, a big percentage of people who get elected turn corrupt, it's just the nature of power. The social conservatives want to use the power of the state to enforce a Christian and capitalist ethos on everyone.

When the two wings work together, the pubbies can be a potent force indeed, but the smaller faster nature of interactions around the world make it less and less likely, one idiot like Huckabee can undo a lot of goodwill, thankfully.
