Karl Rove is NOT some evil super genius, he's a smarmy hack who has lost all credibility.

Karl Rove got VERY lucky in 2000. Jeb Bush and Katherine Harris BARELY purged enough Democrats from the voting rolls to allow Bush to get close enough for the SCOTUS to stop the recount.

In 2002, holding the Authorization to Use Military Force vote in October was enough to sway midterms where Democrats rarely turn out in the necessary numbers. Rove was just lucky that war fever after 9/11 allowed the GOP to retain control.

In 2004, Ken Blackwell made certain that Democratic precincts did not have enough voting machines and moved those extra voting machines to Republican districts, facilitating easy voting for Republicans and long lines for Democrats, allowing the vote to be swayed in Bush's favor.

From 2006 on, Rove has had precisely ZERO IMPACTT on elections. His Crossroads GPS bungle is so epic, nobody will ever donate a cent to anything with his name attached. Watch News Corps quietly dump him from both Fox News and the Wall Street Journal since the Republicans themselves have had enough of his idiocy.

Karl Rove CANNOT simply push a button and change the vote. Don't give a proven hack super magical powers he does not have.

1. People believe what they want to believe

Rove is a bungler and not some magical evil genius, but whatever.

2. I've been watching the wingnut sites since the election

Yes, tasty tears and shadenfreude.

Any way, all of them except Redstate have convinced themselves that David Axelrod has the magical button that Karl Rove supposedly had if you believe the CT on the left about vote hacking.

The difference between Axelrod and Rove is that Axelrod is no hack. Neither have that magical button.

4. I think that the democrats learned their lesson after 2004

and were prepared in 2008 and 2012.

The democrats were sucker punched in 2000. They were also caught with their pants down in 2004, thinking that the republicans wouldn't have the gall to attempt another stolen election. After that, election attorneys were permanently put in place.

I am still not sure what to believe about what was going through Rove's mind on Fox News on election night.

5. Though I agree, that was no acting performance Karl put on that night

His reaction was as genuine as one could expect to get from him. But there WAS a reason for it, and I suspect that it was rooted in the ineffectiveness of his ORCA GOTV software being exposed on national TV.

7. Yes, there was a reason for it.

He was going off Romney internal polling. The same internal polling that erroneously treated party identification as demographic data and adjusted based upon their turnout estimates. Party self identification is, as any pollster will tell you, OPINION data.

He believed the bullshit, like Romney and everybody else on the right.

Which goes to prove he's nothing but a smarmy HACK.

6. Facts: 1) many people are given to magical thinking; 2) Karl is the best they have.

Karl will be back (largely by default) and some people will never understand that politics, like any other contest, is largely won at the margins and that luck has a lot to do with outcomes.

8. One of the things Rove has relied on is sheer brazenness...

...and that only works so far. Once opposition develops counters to that, the conditions aren't as favorable to his candidates as in past contests, and the raw material just doesn't have the personal charm to keep his warts hidden, it isn't far enough.

9. If that is so then why is it that Republicans had a huge mandate in 2001?

Because they certainly governed that way, none of this reaching across the aisle kumbayah crap like the Democrats engage in after they win 300+ electoral votes.

Rove is a genius because his party took what he gave them and fucking ran with it and not toward their own damn goal like the Democrats do.

13. "Mandates" are Awarded by the RAPEuglican Media

If the RAPEuglicans win, they have a "mandate", even if they barely squeaked by with a stolen election.
If the Democrats win, there is no such thing as a mandate, no matter how much we win by.

16. 9/11 gave Bush the mandate

If it wasn't for that, he would have been a one term president.

10. The Gameplan Was To Keep People From Getting To The Voting Machines...

...Voter Suppression. It was a long range game plan that has worked in the past...Ohio in 2004, for example. Imagine how many votes were lost that day due to the long lines and people deciding to sit this one out. There was a concerted rushpublican attempt to change voter laws and obstruct the vote...far easier and "safer" to do that flip votes on a machine (especially with so many lawyers watching what was going on.

12. Rove was good at one thing - dirty tricks.

Dirty framing, like the entire Southern Strategy, was one he learned from Atwater.

But really, dirty pool, like vote suppression, election fraud, lying, was all he had in his bag.

And when you play dirty and get away with it too many times, you get cocky. And Rove got too cocky, inserted too much bullshit in his framing, and played so dirty that everyone wanted to kick his ass. And did.

17. He has zero scruples, which gave him success in the beginning.

No one but his peers would stoop as low as him. However, now the game is over. People know what he's about. He's gone. I just wish he were gone to prison, but unfortunately, he will be allowed to live out his days in comfort and wealth if obscurity like the other Republican garbage who went before him, Henry Kissinger, Dick Cheney and many others. The Democrats and turncoats like John Dean go to prison or are disgraced, but the Republican criminals don't. It seems to be the law of the universe.

18. Actually, county election officials allocate voting machines in their own counties.

You can't hang that on Blackwell.

Blackwell is NOT some evil super genius, he's a smarmy hack who has lost all credibility.

Rove would be in jail if it were not that he picked the people whose job it was to put him in jail.

There is still a lot of cover-up activity to distract from the realities of 2000 and 2004,
realities many would rather deny we countenanced than examine for the real facts.

One way to cover up facts is to make the very topic the epitomy of ridicule.

And, around we go, on that merry-go-around, whirling thru a shitstorm wondering why again.

19. I think too many Democrats are afraid of Karl Rove.

He is essentially the king of dirty tricksters and learned it from Lee Atwater. I honestly don't think he has much sophistication. Labeling your opponent as an un-american enemy was something done from the 80's until the mid 2000's but I think enough people have seen through that game. It certainly did not work for Sarah Palin. And the Dems lost in 2010 by not going out and actually voting.

himself with people who tells him what he wishes to hear.
