Santorum: Penn State didn't want my papers

Frothy is telling people that Penn State rejected his donation of his papers;

Pennsylvania State University has reportedly rejected a donation from former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum, who tells National Review Online that he tried to donate his papers to the university, but the powers-that-be in Happy Valley turned them down.

“I don’t know where they are now,” Santorum tells NRO. “Off in a warehouse or something. They didn’t want ’em.” Penn State officials have not responded to a request for comment, but the university’s library lists “papers of alumni” as one of its major collecting areas.

The Penn State library system holds collections and papers that touch on a variety of controversial individuals and subjects, including a collection of posters that document student opposition to the Vietnam War; a special collection classified as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer History, which contains the personal papers of a number of individuals; and the personal papers of former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno.

His pet bird refused to have them in its cage, and the fish asked not to be wrapped in them.

They are in his closet now. In binders of course.

The cats were very happy to take a dump on them. Finally, a pratical use for what would otherwise be useless trash.

Perhaps if one were studying the pathology of religious zealots, Santorum's papers might offer something of interest, but other than that, boring.

but a close read might reveal fifty ways to dwell on gay people. Reasons to think about gayness all the time.
Hum, it did not occur to me that his papers might be helpful in gay studies.

82. I love that band!

I first heard them at least 30 years ago.

I have one of those Blue things hooked up to my teevee with outstanding audio.

It's Happy Hour at our house, so I'll give that tune a spin when the gravity lessens.

I was one of the organizers of the largest whistle-along in History.

We had 45,000 people whistling 'The Fishin' Hole' during the 7th inning stretch during the last game played in the Houston Astrodome.

As weird as it may seem, it was one of the most moving experiences of my life.

We brought out a couple of professional whistlers (I kid you not) before the game started to kind of warm up the crowd. During the Stretch, it all kind of hesitantly wound out, but was going pretty good when it wrapped.

Then, four drunk guys stood up behind the 3rd-base dugout and started yelling "Come on!".

And then they started whistling, all over again.

The energy was like a tidal wave, a tsunami.

It was beautiful. Everyone was joining in.

The Diamond Vision had shots of people who were in tears. It was that transcendental. People really got it that they were in on something special.

We metered it down as we wrapped it, and the crowd followed right along.

At the end, there were several seconds of spontaneous silence.

I will never forget how I felt, right then.

Problem is, I know hundreds of songs, and they all end up in a tumble.

I go back a long, long time.

Bobby Zimmerman was discovered by Albert Grossman while young Bobby was sleeping on my cousin's (Carolyn Hester) sofa.

Most of the music played in our house is live.

I have, though, gotten falling-against-the-wall drunk with Mojo Nixon.

The papers explaining how Santorum felt about losing his seat by 16 points might be interesting...but he'd be better off publishing his papers in a book and letting the Conservative Book Club put it in their "99 Cent" section. That way the people who might want to read them can actually afford to.
