Wasn't that Des Moines Register Romney endorsement supposed to doom Obama in Iowa?

Media: Um, uh, hey how about that Petraeus thing!

1. no. I never read or heard anyone say that.

in fact, it's pretty widely stated that newspaper endorsements don't do a thing.

8. First thing out of Candy Crowley's mouth

She interviewed Axelrod(I think) the morning of the endorsement and that was the first thing she asked about - not any of the other gazillions of newspaper endorsements - implication being that this DMR endorsement was a game changer and Obama was so screwed.

2. I love when the media said that endorsements don't matter except the Des Moines Register.

3. Except make the editors of the paper look like idiots

Their endorsement basically read like they supported Obama in all things except they went with Romney because he will be able to work better with the opposition party (completely ignoring the 800 vetoes by the way). I thought it would hurt and it was a point of digging for my conservative office mates.

4. I bet

they checked the pulse of the subscribers and went with who would cost them less money. I bet most democrats havent actually bought a paper in years I mean with the invention of the internet and all. Republicans on the other hand appear to be behind the times so they just love to pay for yesterdays news today

5. I never heard that. It wasn't a GOOD thing for Obama, but never heard it was deathknell.

Or even likely to change a lot of numbers.
