to paraphrase Bill Maher on the Petraeus drama...

Last edited Sat Nov 17, 2012, 02:55 PM - Edit history (1)

A Republican general has an affair with a Republican biographer who sends threatening emails to a Republican socialite who calls her Republican friend in the FBI who notifies Republican House Majority Leader Eric Cantor ....

Obama's fault.

The day after the hearings, nothing whatsoever. Nothing but Hearst style sensational journalism from start to finish.

The public could have cared less, yet millions were spent investigating every sordid detail of bullshit, that didn't really matter one hoot in the end.
It wore us all out so much that there is no taste left to investigate and expose, Cantor for the soulless, lying, traitor he is. He needs impeachment. Dammit!!!

Good to have you with us! Amazing the lengths they'll go to - in trying to sabotage and otherwise screw our President. Our duly-elected President. Our LEGALLY and LEGITIMATELY ELECTED and REELECTED President! Who got more votes than they did. Whose party gained and maintained further control of the Senate while they didn't. Whose party gained seats in the House while they didn't. Let's all just keep all that in mind. And make sure to help the other side keep that in mind as well. The more of us there are, the easier that job will be.

30. Yes, and I do not understand

why more hasn't been made of this. I do not know all the ups and downs of the various house races, but I heard that all defending Democrats won their races and of course we gained in the Senate. I do not know why the Democratic Party is not shouting this amazing victory from the rooftops. California's Congressional delegation is now 38 Dems to 15 rethugs. (Here at home, the Democrats have a super majority in the state legislature - meaning the rethugs are useless.) This really needs to hammered home and I don't understand why it isn't.

36. Sounds like it's getting to be that time...

Time to start calling Capitol Hill again, and storm the switchboards! If your congresscritter is a republi-CON, so much the better! They need to be reminded that the party that WON THE ELECTION is well-represented even in his/her district, and WE WILL NOT BE DENIED. Imagine this - you think the teabaggers are giving you a headache, how 'bout the team that WON THE ELECTION coming atcha, too, 'eh? And here are OUR demands. If you have a Dem, it never hurts to remind him/her that showing, and making use of, backbone is mandatory in their jobs as our reps. And you as a constituent and taxpayer expect to see some!

32. Thanks -- nice to be here!

And I agree; the ongoing attempts to try to discredit Obama have been horrendous, both before and after each of his presidential elections and particularly when those attempts have been against the better interests of the country. That Obama and his team(s) have gotten as much done as they have in the face of all that is impressive. History will recognize that, but the more he can get his due now, the more he'll be able to do. (Of course, that's a large part of what scares many Republicans so much.)

hid for the President. However, I keep waiting for the news to break that they orchestrated the whole attack through those Blackwater/Xe fools. To me, they simply had their props set up too quickly after the event to not have had forehand knowledge that something was about to go down.

14. Maybe, just maybe, Obama could have blocked such memes from developing if he would have not

blocked the Administration's granting of de facto immunity to Republican war criminals at the beginning of his first term.

If you remember, Cheney even went on television and happily admitted that he participated in the approval of water torture in the name of the United States.

None of the Republicans fear President Obama, the application of the law, or logic. They have seen for four years that criminal acts can be engaged in by Republicans and they can openly mock President Obama without any serious consequences.

There is even a phrase for describing the de facto immunity of Republican criminals: "It's OK if you're a Republican." Rachel Maddow and others have sometimes described the de facto phenomenon as IOKIYAR.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x1251844

Only now, with the passage of four years, have the Republicans even lost elections in sufficient numbers to make somewhat of a difference.

Yet, they still don't fear President Obama, the application of the law, or logic. If President Obama's inaction (including refraining from even using harsh words except during election season) is not a contributing cause of that, why not?

41. I think you're right there....and I have another factor I think is in play, too...

I don't think the Prez could wisely do that when it wasn't clear if he had at least more than enough people solidly WITH his leadership, or at least parts of it.

I think also, the public nature of the election sends a mssg of strength, unity, positivity, to EVERYONE.

Bottom line: No mass spinning possible on this--the election-- no matter which media world you embrace: the Reality Based World, or ConservoJesus Land.

"You can fool all of the people some of the time and you can fool some of the people all of the time, but you can't fool ALL of the people ALL of the time.

Lincoln really would beat these mofos' asses with a cherry tree branch.

PRETZELLOGIC! it twists back in on itself like a half-hitch double feedback loop and comes close to creating kinetic energy that keeps it swirling on into oblivion. All that can be done to fix it is to bite a chunk out of it so that it becomes just a piece of stale bread.
