The US ruling class are traitors who are deliberately dismantling US productive capacity,

privatizing government assets, deskilling the workforce, & impoverishing the population. Through fraud, violence, & manipulation of information.

That is all.

2. In Ohio our teabagger friends elected some real doozies.

I didn't let them, they did it and now we all pay. Denuded state parks, proceeds from alcohol taxes stolen, state agencies running on skeleton crews. You name it, it has been done. But if you ask them, Obama is a socialist and it is all his fault. More fun to come, I am certain.

6. I'm not talking politics...I'm talking about the fact that we continue to buy stuff not made here,

even though much of it retails as if it was. We haven't had a general strike. We haven't taken to the streets in protest of companies outsourcing jobs. We've been very passive when it comes to what has been happening to the working and middle classes. I blame myself as well....

13. Teabaggers elected those people because a lot of the Left sat home in 2010 because they were upset

that Obama didn't produce Single Payer, get rid of DADT, apply Gay Rights nationally and bust corporations and banks to the ground during Obama's first two years. As the old saying goes, we get the government that we deserve. Democrats in my state fought their asses off during the 2010 midterms to turn back teabaggers and re-elect a good Governor that went into the election with a 34% approval rating. WE won and are one of the best states in the Union today because of having gave a shit enough to fight.

3. certainly. but part of the reason we let them is because they control our information

sources, our livelihoods, and have the monopoly of law & violence. which they use to imprison us in historically unprecedented numbers and divide us.

9. You convince yourself that they have that power over you. BS. They don't have it unless you grant it

to them.

I watch the posts where the posters are tugging at their asses bemoaning manufacturing going away from America, or Unions being busted. But when posters like Omaha Steve post alternatives that ANY of us can buy, there is not fucking response, or at least no enough.

Some people on this site can continue to relish in their self appointed role as professional victims. I am no fucking victim, I make my own choices. I don't give a shit about the 1% or corporations because neither control me, I control them. They need me more than I fucking need them.

18. I don't "convince myself" of anything. I just have to look around. I have no idea

what you're talking about "alternative that any of us can buy". It's not about "alternative products", it's about the wholesale destruction of productive capacity.

And you are most definitely controlled by corporations, it's the sea you swim in.

12. I don't want to be rude,

but bullshit. The men and women who fought, and in some cases died, in the fight to organize labor and who won for all Americans better wages, better working conditions, better hours, time-and-a half for overtime, etc. didn't have access to the internet. They didn't have television and many of them couldn't even read. But they knew they were being screwed....just as workers today know they have been screwed. They also had families to support. When the US Steel workers were trying to unionize, Vanderbilt called in thugs from the Pinkerton agency, armed to the teeth, with orders to shoot.... No manufacturer would dare do that today.

19. no idea what your point is. and yes, american manufacturers indeed "do that today".they

don't do it in the us (currently), but they do it overseas where they are shipping production.

4. We can and should be developing and patronizing alternatives.

There are people and companies out there that invest in America every day and which treat their workers with respect. People, pay the fuck to where the products you buy are made. Start now buying local and USA made. There are choices out there if you take a fucking look.

40 fucking years ago.

Yeah, it's been a big freaking success, hasn't it?

5. I think the truth is much more painful

The masters of money are doing what they are ALLOWED to do by law.

The neo-liberal insanity about free-markets is contrary to the interests of the founders...which included both principles and practices to BUILD and PRESERVE the national economy.

And the truth is that since the mid 1980's neoliberal democrats, like the DLC and their New Dem acolytes have facilitated the gutting of the American economy.

We have a military 10 times bigger than we need, but we have a system of legal protections for our economy that are 1/10 of what we need.

And it's ruining the nation. We have huge xenophobia and huge fear of national debt because NO ONE sees a future for America that is better than it is today. Indeed our political opponents, people we MUST find compromise with, have a lifeboat mentality about America.

Forget the flowery rhetoric, our leaders have shown us by their actions that they believe that the great days of this nation are behind us and we who can only react, sadly react to that.

Feds: Mafia Affiliates Took Over, Looted $12 Million From Texas Mortgage Company
http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/11/feds_mafia_affiliates_took_over_looted_12_million_from_texas_mortgage_company.php

...Is that the guys who got arrested had last names that ended with vowels.

16. Cant be classified as traitors.

Traitors are those that impart extreme actions against their sovereign or nation.

You are making the assumption that these corporations in question hail allegiance to the USofA.

IMO their sovereign or nation is an international corporation to which they are very loyal.

Halliburton for example is an international corporation. As is GE, etc. Their allegiance is to themselves not any specific country.

17. Right that they can't be classified as traitors but for wrong reason.

The right reason, as is pointed out almost every time someone is labelled a traitor is that, in the United States, the crime of treason -- of being a "traitor" -- is narrowly defined in the Constitution and wouldn't encompass the actions described in the OP.

Last edited Sat Nov 17, 2012, 02:52 PM - Edit history (1)

Treason against the United States shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.

Know why treason is rarely prosecuted in this country? Because that's the way the drafters of the Constitution intended it to be.

And when you and four like minded people get yourselves confirmed as Supreme Court justices you can interpret the Constitution to mean that, I suppose.

35. and i don't doubt that you don't. the supreme court also held that black people

were only 3/5 human, but corporations were 100% human.

there's truth, and there's 'truth' as interpreted by the supreme court.

36. Actually, the framers of the Constitution decreed the 3/5 compromise

Last edited Mon Nov 19, 2012, 07:46 AM - Edit history (1)

Article I Section 2:
Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole number of free persons, including those bound to service for a term of years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other persons.

You may not realize this, but the opponents of slavery didn't want to count slaves at all, while (not surprisingly) it was the slaveholding states that wanted to count them fully since it would increase their representation in Congress. Puts a much different light on the situation than your post since I assume you wouldn't have supported the slaveholders position (even though your post implies that was a more "moral" position). Helps to study history.

The 3/5ths compromise was eventually repealed by the 14th Amendment, of course.
