Eastern North America will have the best shot, 3 a.m. through the pre-dawn hours; NNE towards the constellation Leo at a rate of 15-30 per hour...

4. McIntyre, I want you to keep an eye on the sky....

This meteor shower can actually outshine the Perseids. The night is darker and you tend to get a lot of downward streaking fireballs. Its just much colder out.

5. +1

The waxing crescent moon setting much earlier in the evening will be an added bonus, too...

10. Saw a Leonid storm for a few minutes in 1970? 71? with the

radiant high in the sky at about 2AM appearing as a black circle with meteors shooting out all around its perimeter; I estimated about 800-1000/min. Never, ever seen even 1 Perseid, however.

12. There was a tremendous Leonid in 99/00 I believe...

Memory is serving me horribly after a few of these DFH 90 Minute IPAs, however I remember the 200-500 range.

INCREDIBLE!
