Introducing Discussionist: A new forum by the creators of DU

Fri Nov 16, 2012, 07:18 AM

Rep. Gary Ackerman (D-NY) unloaded, first sarcastically: "Let's just hang the guilty parties."

And THAT'S how you do it
The GOP has obviously decided that the Benghazi matter has a blue dress somewhere and yesterday in a House hearing Dana "I sure loved me the Taliban" Rohrabacher proclaimed the matter worse than 'Watergate' -- which must have made the loss of the marine's in Lebanon under Reagan worse than all the Wars EVER! in comparison.

But New York Rep. Gary Ackerman had enough:

Rep. Gary Ackerman (D-NY) unloaded, first sarcastically: "Let's just hang the guilty parties."

"The stench of hypocrisy that hangs over this city today emanates from this room," Ackerman said. "I've listened to my colleagues talk about the President of the United States and others in the administration using terms 'deliberate', 'lies', 'unmitigated gall', 'malfeasance,' which is malicious and knowing evil-doing, 'disgust', 'coverups'."

He continued, "If you want to know who is responsible in this town, buy yourself a mirror!"
Ackerman went on to say that Republicans had "the audacity to come here" when the administration requested, for worldwide security, "$440 million more than you guys wanted to provide. And the answer is that you damn didn't provide it! You REDUCED what the administration asked for to protect these people. Ask not who the guilty party is, it's you! It is us. It is this committee, and the things that we insist that we need have to cost money."

He added, "Could you tell me which of my colleagues on this committee was as bodacious in their insistence that we provide more money for American security in the State Department budget. I would appreciate it."

Ackerman then asked them to raise their hands and gave them a count of five to do so. None did.

others (read that as democrats) when things go wrong.

for 40 years. Cut funding and then call government inefficient...I do hope the American people are watching...of course it would be so much better if we had a real fourth estate to report on this mess.

Time to call them out on that.

We should change Joe Biden's quote about Rudy Giuliani which was, "a noun, a verb, and 9/11 .... to what do republicans always say now that they got their asses kicked in the election? A noun, a verb, and Benghazi.

This shit is getting really old now ...... 2 of the parents of the Americans that were killed have publicly asked not to make their
son's deaths into a political side show but has that stopped these ass hats? Hell to the no.

The President of the United States is not in charge of the security of our embassies or consulates that is under the per view of
the CIA, the Marines, and the State Dept. who Rep. Ackerman pointed out had their funding for security cut by the House Republicans.

These dill weeds have no shame and have as much to do w/ the party of Eisenhower and Lincoln as I do being a porn star.

12. Sorry, can't get past "bodacious" either

Has to be a misprint for "audacious."

Not trying to take anything away from the laudable statement of Rep. Ackerman, which is greatly appreciated, but to say "bodacious" in that context is pretty funny. (At least some would think it funnier if it had been said by a Republican.)

Trying to salvage the word, I consulted the Oxford English Dictionary:

bodacious, adj.

Pronunciation: /bəˈdeɪʃəs/
Forms: Also bowdacious.
Etymology: Perhaps a variant of English dialect boldacious, a combination of bold and audacious... (Show More)
U.S. dial.

1. Complete, thorough, arrant. Also as adv.

Draft additions 1997

2. slang (orig. and chiefly U.S.)

a. Excellent, fabulous, great.

b. Sexually attractive.

Nope, pretty much the wrong word to use here.

I had always envisioned a Latin adjective, bodax (like audax --> audacious) meaning "chesty" or "well-endowed."

As in--

Isn't it bodacious of our Republicans to cut the budgets for all these services and get right up there in Congress and slam the Democratic President for the results of those cuts?

Yee Haw!

Karl Rove probably loves that technique the GOP has been using again and again.

Republicans can't be bothered to show up to hear the real facts in a closed door hearing....why? Because then they'd have to stop lying about the truth. 56. Sound like the only agenda the GOP House will have this session is to demonize and eliminate Obama.

Sounds like they have the exact same plan as before with the added feature of impeaching him.
If there is no scandal, they will keep repeating their fake scandals so often and so loudly that the public starts to believe it's true.
They damage the country as much as they can, then blame it on Obama and impeach him.

We can probably forget having anything approved, including stopping the fiscal cliff unless these insane dimwits figure out that they are in government and are supposed to govern, not destroy, the country.
