BREAKING NEWS ORGANIZERS USING INTERNET TO GROW BOYCOTT OF WALMART ON BLACK FRIDAY

http://www.skyvalleychronicle.com/BREAKING-NEWS/ORGANIZERS-USING-INTERNET-TO-GROW-BOYCOTT-OF-WALMART-ON-BLACK-FRIDAY-1171488

(NATIONAL) -- It is called “Black Friday,” the day after Thanksgiving and it is one of the biggest shopping days of the year.

But labor organizers are hoping this year’s Black Friday is very different for Walmart stores across the country.

They’re planning a nationwide strike that day against the world’s largest retailer and they are using the Internet to organize n a “viral” manner.

Labor organizers have formed a coalition with a social action nonprofit group called Engage Network and a corporate watchdog nonprofit group called Corporate Action Network.

2. They'll just go to WalMart on Th. evening (when WalMart Black Friday starts) or Saturday.

I won't go on Friday, though. But I wouldn't have fought the crowds then, anyway.

8. I'm wondering if Walmart is the only store the poster has in his/her area.

Unfortunately, one of the consequences of the Walmartization of America is that many in smaller town don't have a choice without having to burn tons of gas and waste their time to visit a larger town.

11. I do. But to ask people who are pinching pennies not to shop at the place

where they can get the most for their money is unrealistic. They don't really have a choice. WalMart has gotten too big, too powerful, too cheap to ignore.

I have a Target by me (DUers criticize Target, too), an Albertson's, a Sam's Club. Now WalMart is building a super-WalMart near me. I fear they will put the Target and Albertson's out of business. I think that will happen.

So I will have only a Sam's Club and a super WalMart near me.

WalMart was allowed to get too big. I don't see how anything can stop it, now.

27. Sorry, as a frugal shopper, it's true. I relentlessly research

products before I buy. Seriously. I'm obsessive about it. Time and again - though not always - WalMart has the best price, esp online shopping, with its extremely low shipping fees (less than $5).

But I bought my new tv at Best Buy, the Kindle for sis at Best Buy, and a few things there.

New dishes I got? I tried not to buy at WalMart. I shopped in person and online at Target, Pottery Barn, Bed Bath & Beyond, Kohl's, Dillards, Macys, WalMart, Wayfair, Sears, one outlet store near me. I did a spreadsheet, even!

WalMart had the most attractive, most sturdy set of 4 place settings at the best price. I bought the set from WalMart. It was way less expensive than anything else, and very pretty, too. White porcelain, inches of plates & size of cereal bowl were perfect.

You think all those millions of people shop at WalMart without knowing what they're getting? I buy every year for charity kids for Christmas. Best deals: Target, Sears, and WalMart. Each store has their own specialty items at the best price. WalMart is best for sweatshirts, undies, socks, jammies, etc. Cheap cheap cheap. I can get a LOT of stuff for the limited money I have. Sears - best coats. Target - best pretty clothing items (these cost more than ordinary clothing items).

3. SOLIDARITY !!!!

This company, which has played no small role in the deterioration of wages, benefits and working conditions in America and beyond, needs to be taught a very expensive lesson.

12. WalMart wouldn't exist if no one would work there.

It's the same thing. You expect people not to shop there. But that's the same thing as expecting people not to work there.

When that's the main thing in the area, people will work there, and people will shop there.

I've looked for something like that, to no avail.

I would love to particpate in this and spread the word.

DUmail me, I never check back on threads I've posted in.

Thanks!

I mean, somebody has to take photos and write the news story.

Damn, I try to avoid early morning Black Friday throngs.

"Those people should just go out and get other jobs" type of statements. They are probably Walmart management - why else would someone go and "crap" on the site?

26. BIG EMPLOYER SUPER LOW WAGES

I had planned to be there, but this is a great reason to NOT be there Friday. My son works for Walmart and I think one less person running wild would be GREAT.

I personally think the minimum wage should be increased so that people can make a living and the top wage should NEVER exceed what the president is paid ;o) Screw all the big bonus and give it to all the workers.....

Nothing stopping walmart sales competition paying http://engagenet.org/process/engagement-plan-implementation

to increase their own sales.

Disgusted and infuriated, but not shocked.
