Why is Rice taking the heat?

Isn't it the SoS job to go out to the media with the information?

Who gave Rice the orders to do that and who told her what to say?

1. I think the CIA told her what to say and the WH sent her out. But why is she taking the heat?

Not only is she a woman, but she's also a woman of color. White supremacists, the core of the Republican party, love to bash people like her.

4. why would the CIA tell her? Isn't that Clinton's area?

and you are right about her being a woman and of color is the reason they are doing this to her. what cretins.

Maybe I'm getting the UN Ambassador's and SoS's duties mixed up or something, because I thought this was the sort of stuff was in Clinton's area.

15. I don't know if the CIA told her. On my ride into the office, Alex Bennett said the CIA told her.

That's where I got it. Maybe I read something here, too.

I have no idea who has what duties.

2. Because the repubs have nothing, nothing...

to attack the President and his admin about so this pathetic smearing is their last gasp in trying to be relevant, imo.

10. What makes you think Secretary of State Clinton didn't receive the info?

I haven't read or heard that she was not informed. From what I heard today, Susan Rice had been asked to appear on the show in question to talk about UN questions in general. There is little doubt the admin knew there might be questions about the attack and gave Ms. Rice what information they had at the time from the CIA in prep for such questions.

6. Because SOS had decreed an embargo on further Dept. announcements

Lots of concern about sending mixed signals from the same source.

So, the job of dealing with the press fell to the UN delegate, Ms. Rice.

8. okay, I can understand that.

I didn't know that it was the UN Ambassador that falls in line behind the SoS for this sort of thing.

13. It's just how they decided to do it. Not a formal protocol or pecking order thing.

7. I consider all ambassadors to be sock-puppets for higher powers

Willingness to stick to the script is a hallmark of diplomacy. Those who can do it and still maintain personal dignity and the respect of others are extraordinary.

9. It's noise

They need to have something to focus their anger at. They don't need legitimate reason for the victim as long as they are somehow attached to the President. However, it is abundantly clear they are getting off their prejudice juices on a woman of color. They had the same crazed appearance when they slow roasted Holder. Hatred without reason is an irrational mother.....

12. She was selected as a target by the Right Wing because she is an Obama appointee

She also is a possible candidate for Secretary of State so the 'publicans are attacking preemptively to block her.

I would also say it's because she's African American as well. Ya know ya can't have them take over the gubmint.

17. republickcons want Senator Kerry as SOS so they can try and get his seat.

Consequently, they are preemptively attacking Ms Rice, who would be a great SOS.

There will be massive blowback on mcshame and miss lindsay when the facts come out and they will be outed as the cynical partisan prevaricators that they are.
