WTF?? Bill Clinton calls Romney after election and tells him he might have won if not for Sandy

<snip>

Romney says president Bill Clinton called him after the election and said he might have won if not for Hurricane Sandy. Romney: "I spoke with president Clinton the day before yesterday, he called and spent thirty minutes chatting with me. He said a week out I thought you were going to win. And he said, but the hurricane happened, and it gave the president a chance to be presidential, and to look bipartisan, and you know he got a little more momentum, and of course he also said that when he was watching Ann speak at the Republican convention, he decided he was tempted to join the Republican Party. So he may have just been effusive with generous comments as he chatted. He was very complimentary, by the way, of how well we did with middle-class voters, and he said they were surprised by how strong we were in Ohio and in other states with middle-class voters, they did exceptionally well with minorities, but white, middle-class voters, we really cleaned up with and that caught them by surprise."

<snip>

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/OTUS/obamas-gifts-small-campaign-bill-clintons-thoughtsromneys-parting/story?id=17727179#.UKUzQGetDfY

Maybe he's lying. here's another snippet from this piece:

Romney had a big transition team already working on the early stages of his administration, the former candidate told donors: "I wish you also had the chance to see the transition team. A large group of folks were working on everything from pieces of legislation to file to the first budget to executive orders, and it's disappointing we won't be able to file those executive orders, but I guess that happens, we're still having a hard time, just contemplating what could have been versus what is, and it just doesn't seem real, we're still in the stage of denial at my house. We still think the campaign is going on."

21. Maybe Mitt needs to be encouraged to stick around he and his kind are good targets for talkingpoints

Remember how early in the debate Republicans were quoting Bill Clinton I figured it was due to something Clinton encouraged. When Ryan passed his budget Clinton suggested he stop by. So what does Clinton do in the 2012 Democratic Convention he comes out and eviscerates the Republican Budget of Paul Ryan and destroys Mitt Romney? By now Republicans should learn their lesson obviously Romney has not. Romney or a clone would be a dream in 2016 and Bill may have a dog in that fight. Why does Clinton do this because he can, another lesson Republicans have not learned.

25. Bill was being both diplomatic and cagey

Assuming this conversation happened. Would someone from the winning team really call Romney and say, "you were a terrible candidate and you never really stood a chance, anyway"? That would be a pretty meanspirited thing for someone in Clinton's position to do. Then there is the fact that letting the GOP believe that anything but poor candidates and an unpopular platform is the reason for their losses is a smart thing to do. Do the Dems really want them to wise up?

What strikes me is that Romney is desperately grasping at straws. Instead of taking this conversation with Clinton for what it is - an act of diplomacy and charity - he's clinging to it in order to perpetuate the fiction that he could have won the election if not for bad luck.

Bill Clinton might have called and attempted to be nice (he is a charmer), and he may have even tooted Romney's horn a little bit. But we'll never know because Romney is a liar. Clinton ripped him to shreds on several occasions and gave the speech of his life at the DNC convention. That tells me all I need to know.

One was probably to declare Obamacare null and void so it wouldn't have to go through congress. Bet he had a lot of executive orders in mind.

Two-declare an across the board tax cut of 20%. Then congress can work out/worry how to balance the budget on the poor and middle class...but the 1% would be guaranteed to
get their tax cut.

Three- Give the military 2 billion or trillion dollars.

The man is pure slime! I just hope he just oozes away into obscurity.

put the final stake into romney's heart and call a press conference. You can keep it short and simple:

"I just read Governor romney's recount of a conversation we never had. Let me be clear, I have did not speak with Governor romney the day before yesterday ... I fact, I have not spoken with him since before the election. This is just another example of Governor romney's playing fast and loose with the truth; much like he did during his entire campaign.

62. I think Romney is lying - if his lips are moving, he's lying. But...

If Bill did give him a call it sounds like it was to deliver a hearty fuck you and to torment him a little bit. In Bill Clinton's voice - "Looks like Elohim cast his vote."

63. Even if this happened pretty much as Romney described, how "un-presidential" is this?

Recounting this conversation in this way?

"Hey chump why not bring you and your girlfriend over for drinks so we can get to know each other better. Better yet, just bring her over."

79. Maybe it is a Jedi mind game

"People really liked your lies about everything. And it is a shame that stupid hurricane came through when people were just warming up to the idea of turning Medicare into a clip-out coupon program. And this forced vaginal ultrasound plans -- pure genius. I have to tell you, you really had us on the ropes with your mysterious tax plan with unnamed cuts to be revealed after the election. If that old Hurricane hadn't come though, boy, oh boy, things would sure be different. I know the hurricane really kept you from making your big case for killing Social Security. Just bad luck, I guess. Well, maybe the next candidate will have a better chance to do that."

77. Bill (Big Dog) Clinton

Is a political genius I believe he might have done this Look the guy is good friends with the Bush Family so much so that Babs calls him her son. The man can make friends with anyone and then he can call in the favors later. He knows what he is doing.

when Clinton confronts Romney's lying pansy ass. I seriously doubt Clinton almost became a republican from listening to Ann Romney speak. Gag!

87. So does this mean DU was wrong about Romney being a Colossal POS?

This is what's hard for dummies like me to square; one day it's all "MUST DESTROY THE MOST EVIL FUCK IN THE WORLD!", and the next it's all collegial tidings, compromise, and cabinet appointments.

89. No. It just means that Mitt Romney is nobody now.

Before election day, he was one of the most important human beings on the planet.

Now that the election is over, he is nobody. He no longer matters. No need to waste any effort tearing him down anymore.

92. Ok, but what he is and what he stands for matters

and by extension our associations matter too. Of course you're right, this is meaningless in the grand scheme. I'm learning I suck at politics.

83. So then Bill Clinton says "I thought you were going to win"

In fact, Bill Clinton even said he VOTED for me, and Hillary too! Yeah...and Jimmy Carter said he donated $50,000 bucks and a bag of peanuts to my campaign. Solid GOLD peanuts! Yeah, that's the ticket!

88. Big Dawg might have just been having a little personal fun, and was blowing smoke up rmoney's shorts

cause he knew rmoney would go crow about it and look like an ass. Imagine Bill's sly, joking voice in your mind's ear, saying in his way "Ya know? Ya mighta won...if it hadn't been for that hurricane!" and just shinin' him on for fun cause he knew rmoney wouldn't realize he was being punked. How funny would THAT be?!

I know, if I was in the unique position of being a former President, pretty much own the world, just got off a tour of campaiging, my side won, and I'm riding a tide of personal popularity - I must admit, I'd fuck with fuckheads like romney just for "sport".

90. If this is what it takes to shmooze up some more donations for the Clinton Center...

well, they do a lot of good work in the world. And Romney's always looking for a few good tax write offs.
