"Be nice to President Obama"...

If I could give some simple advice to the Republican Party if they are serious about extending their base, that would be it. Be nice to President Obama.

If you want to make inroads into the black, Latino, Asian, the young, women, and others, it is much more difficult when you are so critical of the person they support. It is simple human nature. If you dislike one of my close friends, then I probably will not care too much for you.

Instead of talking about impeaching the President and blocking him at every turn, maybe you should try working with him on some issues? That would be my advice but I would not expect any Republican to try it. And their effort to reach out will continue to fail...

1. Graham and McCain need to be told this in no uncertain terms

They are being very disrespectful of the newly elected president, and they should be ashamed of themselves.

4. Why waste your time and energy on someone who is not going to listen

besides, I don't understand why democrats should be providing advice to republicans who I might add are our arch nemesis. We always have to find a way to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

5. It is meant to enlighten close-minded Democrats also...

Because we should be open to education and learning. Republicans are not going to listen to our "advice" but it is helpful to know where their "reach out" program is headed, I would think?

6. Looking at it from that stand point, yes

but we've all seen how the republicans are good at using whatever hand we offer as a form of compromise to slap our faces with it, why continue extending friendship to a party that refuses to acknowledge your offer of partnership. Why not find a way to circumvent their dishonesty by creating more opportunities that could enable democrats to achieve long term goals.

7. Excellent points...

But in order to "circumvent their dishonesty", it can only help our side to know as much as possible about their goals and plans. That will enable Democrats to achieve long-term goals much easier, in my opinion.

If, all of a sudden, they decide to be nice to Obama, you can say, "It's all kentuck's fault!'...

8. I don't care how nice or not nice they are to Obama

Neither does he, I think

The question is, do they want to be involved in governing the country or do they want to remain nothing but an obstructionist force.

Are they willing to compromise enough to get something done, or are they going to dick around for another couple of years.

10. They don't want to make inroads with others.

Things are looking up.
