They're profit seekers, not job creators. Jobs are the byproduct, not the purpose. Companies only hire additional employees when demand increases necessitate new employees that will generate higher profits. More money in the hands of the middle class is the key to building higher demand. I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but I wish Dems would push back against this misleading term more explicitly.

We collectively, the 100% and our demand for goods and services are the job creators.
I agree with you, that Frank Luntz BS phrase should never be spoken again!

I can't argue with that logic. Why hire more people to make more stuff you aren't selling to begin with?
Of course the asshat still wanted a tax break anyway. That's what I had a problem with.

(1,788 posts)Every time I shop or use a business, I help keep, and maybe even create a job. There is no business out there that hires people out of the kindness of their heart. They hire people because we all create demand....so bite me "job creators," I'm the job creator!!!!!!

(978 posts)In a debate I had with with a Conservative friend on trickle down economics, he told me someone has to wash and maintain the boats of the rich. That was his idea of the rich being job creators and why they needed a tax break.

(5,364 posts)It's really mostly "believed" by conservative "fellow traveller" idiots; That is, the ones that don't think deeper than the slogan's basic talking point. It allows them to have an ostensibly respectable reason to support their team, rather than reveal their real single-issue reasons like "god & guns" and the like.
