Mitt Romney Has Been The Most Openly Racist Prez Candidate In My Lifetime

...I haven't lived that long, I honestly thought this kind of overt racism on such a high profile level was at least suppressed if not just put into a deep dark closet.

I remember being absolutely aghast that college kids were treating that old bastard as if he had anything of worth to say. I do believe he was the very beginning of the downward spiral into "conservatism." However, Reagan was the first major party, national, openly bigotted candidate.

Nixon may never have voiced any racism but he fully permitted the Southern Strategy to go into effect, seeking support from Dixiecrats who were pissed at the Democrats for the Civil Rights Act.

He was already pushing racist "conservatism" before Nixon ran in 1968.

I'm old enough to remember Nixon.

The atmosphere has become openly racist. In an older time, Romney wouldn't have been so obvious. You're right, though. It started with Reagan.
