In the event of secession, how long before Alabama becomes a third world nation?

My crazy home state has the secession birdies chirping. I'm laughing my butt off because they have no idea how fast we would become a third world nation once all of the federal money is drained from our state.

Goodbye federal infrastructure help
Goodbye federal health care assistance
Goodbye to federal support through defense spending
Goodbye federal welfare assistance (and that is a bunch, I'm sure)
Goodbye federal grants to our higher education facilities
Goodbye federal jobs
Goodbye to most jobs in Huntsville and Birmingham
Goodbye to our banking industry and health care industry
Goodbye to the smartest of our citizens as they run to the border
Goodbye to affordable goods as inflation strikes
Goodbye to property values

Hello to inflation
Hello to stagnation
Hello to health care crisis
Hello to poverty
Hello to homelessness

The stupid is very strong here in Alabama. But, I assume it is as strong in the other states where the secessionists are making noise, too.

Bless their hearts.

8. I am from South Alabama

They already act like a third world nation, so it would not be too far for them to fall.

I just had a headed FB exchange with a pro-secession "friend." I use that term only in the FB sense. Why is he allowed to his racist, bigoted opinion, but the opposite viewpoint is considered Un-American and Un-Christian? I am really beginning to dislike these people.

I did mention that if he wanted to secede, Atlanta is close, and Delta flies internationally 24 hours a day, so he can find an agreeable country to live in.

12. In some parts, third world would be a step up

Just being snarky, lived there for awhile and still have family there, but they certainly could stand improvement.

9. Not about Alabama, but Keith Olbermann did the math for the state of Texas if they left:

He lost track at the cost of starting up a new country beyond $500,000,000,000 for that state.

13. The moment they are a new nation!

BTW. They are a net 'taker' from the fed budget. Most red states are. It is the blue states that provide.

19. They tried that once 150 years ago. I seem to recall it didn't turn out so well.

But some people are slow learners.
