Did you notice this little gem in the election results?

I've really been pouring over the electoral results and maps. This is something that has really jumped out at me. The toss-up races. We know that Obama pretty much swept the swing states. We know that we picked up some ground in the Senate.

It's the House that I think s hows some really interesting results. The house toss-ups. I'll use HuffPo to explain. They had 17 "Toss-up" House seats. 20 leans Republican and 16 leans Democrat. Here is the beautiful little gem that sets us up quite well for 2014:

Of 17 Toss-ups, the Democrats took 12. 70% or so.
Of 16 Leans Democrat the Dems took 100% of them. (counting Barber in AZ who is currently ahead)
Of 20 Leans Republicans the Dems took 5. 25%.

Wow. This really sums up that the Democrats really kicked butt this election. Of 53 leaning or toss-ups, the Dems took 33 of the seats.

Poll numbers be damned, this is the kind of math that I like to do!!!

(Note, there are a couple of races that they haven't finished counting...but Dems have leads in all of them)

1. Nice little "factoid"!

assuming Barber prevails....what will the net gain for Dems be in the House?

2. We'd probably have a Democratic House if it weren't for the 2010 gerrymandering.

5. i know...i think they knew it was a census year so they went for it

all those tea party candidates riling up the base...didn't matter if they only lasted a year...they helped them redistrict a good portion of the country.

19. Nope, Representative Bilbray has not conceded the election.

Suffice it to say last time around, when Susan Davis unseated him, it took him a while.

Fun fact, San Diego's Delegation will be three Dems, and Two republicans for the House and yes, two Dems for the senate

17. Really it's a commentary on media reporting.

The media was invested in the horse race and a close election. They overweighted Republican-financed polls. Unprofessional polling proliferated during this cycle...

22. It was just as bad four years ago. I used to watch CNN and was so disgusted by how

far they slanted right that I stopped watching them completely.

20. IMO it is all about identifying your voters and GOTV

They need to determine the turnout and get 50% +1

21. Maybe overly optimistic,

but I think this bodes well for House races in 2014.

Evidence is in the results.
