Yaron Brook, executive director of the Ayn Rand Institute, will speak to a class of supply chain management students at the University of Arkansas on Nov. 28.

He is a columnist at Forbes.com, and his articles have appeared in major publications such as the Wall Street Journal, USA Today and Investorís Business Daily. Brook is often interviewed on radio and is a frequent guest on national TV programs.

In addition to addressing the class, Brook will sign copies of the new book he co-authored, Free Market Revolution: How Ayn Randís Ideas Can End Big Government, which was released in September. Brook also will be signing copies of the book at the Barnes & Noble bookstore in Rogers on Nov. 27 at 6:30 p.m.

Brook was born and raised in Israel. He served as a first sergeant in Israeli military intelligence and earned a degree in civil engineering from Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa, Israel. In 1987 he moved to the United States, where he received his master of business administration degree and Ph.D. in finance from the University of Texas at Austin. For seven years, Brook was an award-winning finance professor at Santa Clara University. In 1998, he cofounded a financial advisory firm, BH Equity Research, of which he is presently managing director and chairman.

1. I hope they have people with different points of view also address the class.

I always considered Ayn Rand to be a bad joke. How far we've come!

The one so brilliant that she presented passenger rail, probably one of the industries most dependent on government intervention and support for its very existence, as a great vehicle for a tale of Superman, private enterprise IN THE FRIGGIN' 1950s AS IT WAS BEING KILLED OFF BY A CARTEL OF AUTOMOBILE AND INTERSTATE HIGWAY INTERESTS. An industry that couldn't exist without eminent domain, protected monopolies, massive subsidies, .... even down to police protection as a possible government free zone. What an idiot she and her cult were, what a bunch of idiots academics who take her seriously are.

I've long said that business schools had about as much of a place in higher education as a Soupy Sales Studies major.
