So...why do Democrats want Nancy Pelosi to step down as House Minority Leader?

She's been the leader there for a decade, and I thought she was highly respected and doing a good job. She seems to have been able to bring the Democrats together in the House for votes. No one can get the Republican votes in the House, of course.

I know the Repubs hate her. But since when does one party pick its leaders based on what the other side wants? She hasn't been obstructionist or stopped anything from getting through, that the Democratic Party was in favor of.

So what's the deal?

5. I saw a thread here a day or two ago about Pelosi. Some posters were wanting her to step down.

Others were not. So I was just asking why, mainly because she's being asked about that by the media, now. Like it's a subject in the foreground and a real possibility.

I didn't pay much attention to the thread, when I saw it. I considered it just musings. But it seems to be a real topic in the news.

9. I thought that OP was sarcastic.

Yeah, the Republicans hate her. What better credential could she possess for retaining the job?

3. Rachel just said she thinks "it will be a cold day in hell when Pelosi steps down

from a job that needs to be done." I so much want her to be right. I don't want nobody pushin' no Nancy Pelosi around.

11. well we'll never know cause nancy took impeachment off the table. that should have disqualified her

so we'll never know who would have followed thru with impeachment and in that who should be "leader"

19. im sure they are but this isnt about them, quit trying to divert the focus this is about nancy

and dems who want her to step down and i am one of them. her desicion to take impeachment off the table disqualifies her for this position.

10. Nancy Pelosi should continue in her role as House Minority Leader.

I see no reason for her to step down.

12. I want her to stay. There's nobody like her in either party...

She says what she needs to, in a genteel, refined way, no coarseness that we need to fell embarrassed about, doesn't take "no" for an answer, and knows how to persuade. And she's pretty and tasteful, face lifts or not..

Please stay, Nancy.

13. Luke Russert saying "some democrats say" isn't the same

as some democrats actually saying it.

14. She doesn't seem like the far-leftie that Faux portrays her as ...

... I've never understood their unabashed venom toward her ... to the point that I even saw ads linking local Dem candidates in Indiana to 'Nancy Pelosi's ultra-liberal agenda' during this cycle.

To me, she's not liberal or vocal/activist enough.

16. The only Democrats whose opinions matter are those

in the next Congress. Opinions expressed here on DU are not taken into consideration when choosing a House minority leader. Really they aren't.

In my opinion, she'll retain that position handily. She's been very effective in it, and has helped get some measures through the House. Her fellow members will almost certainly reward her by putting her right back in that position.

17. I think,she is too divisive, but I also,think the Repubs

Would demonized Jesus Christ if he were a democrat, so I,guess she might as well just stay. We have lost the House twice now under her.
