Alert: you don't put anything in an email, facebook, discussion forum -

like Du - anything that you don't want to take ownership in public.

And you certainly do not use company provided computer or a telephone (land or cell) for personal use (unless check on the kids at home or make a routine doctor appointment).

Why is this so difficult for supposedly intelligent people to understand? At least the general was not using CIA email, not sure about a computer to access his gmail (I think) account.

I still don't understand the "cyber Monday" when many employees use office computers and Internet connections for their Christmas shopping following Thanksgiving.

1. I happen to think that emails are private communication just like snail mail letters.

Just because they are EASILY sent into public cyberspace does not make them public to begin with, any more than a private paper letter that is scanned into digital form.

2. Perhaps. But being right does not protect you

Just like for a woman to walk alone in the dark in bad neighborhood. Sure, she has a right to walk anyplace she wants to. But being attacked or, worse, murdered, is not going to help her.

The reality is that cyberspace is not secure and putting anything out there you are opened to other eyes viewing it. Gmai? Privacy?

I don't even like too many sites having my bank or credit card account for fear of hacking.
