4. My Mom lives 40 miles north of Muskegon.

I grew up there.

I send condolences to you and everyone else in the region.

It has started.

5. Ludington area? it's beautiful along the lake. I grew up in Charlevoix then moved to

Grand Rapids, but I love northern MI. I have relatives in Petoskey & Traverse City.

10. My Mom lives outside a tiny town south of Ludington.

I used to work at the old McDonald's in Ludville when I was in high school.

I always go back in the summer. It's so beautiful anywhere along the Lake! I like to watch the Badger car ferry load and unload in Ludington. They can actually get a full semi in that thing! There's a good Mexican/casual bar restaurant on James St. in Ludington that has two decks on top of its building. You can really see the ferry come in and out while you drink Bell's or a Margarita.

Charlevoix, Petoskey and Traverse City are more beautiful than Ludington, and I've been up that way many, many times over my life, but Ludington is almost just around the corner. I have relatives in Muskegon, Spring Lake and GR.

My Mom's getting older and I know that I'll be back for a while to make sure she has an easy passage to what's next. I'll probably come back here to DC because that's where the jobs are for me after that, but I plan to spend most of my retirement in between Muskegon and Ludington.

8. It snowed in the foothills and mountains of ABQ a couple of days ago.

It's still very cold here, believe it or not. Our high temps have been around 45 or 50.

It is 23 now and supposed to get down to 19 tonight. It's time I crashed with my dogs now--need to get up very early for work, as always!

9. Yesterday morning in So. Cal., it was 5 degrees @ 5:30 a.m.

Granted, it was at 6700 feet ASL, but I've lived up here for 6 years now and that's the coldest I've ever seen it.

Oh yeah, we have snow on the ground too. In fact, our ski resorts opened today.
