"Ya know Papa, I think it's more important to give your employees Health-Care, than to give away 2 million free pizzas.
So I release you from our deal."
Now Lawyers would descend from every corner of the country, and the OWNERS of the NFL Franchises would throw a major fit, but...
Papa John could also appear in that ad, and in order to save his brand, could say, "Peyton, I agree. Why don't we do BOTH? Let's get America working together?"
And I would bet that Papa Johns brand would do significantly better that it's about to do currently.
And no... I haven't been smoking any newly legalized weed.

(657 posts)sob's don't understand. Election night should have taught them a lesson. We are strong in numbers. I think we need to show them what these numbers can do.

(1,186 posts)That's the most powerful tool we have. Screw these national chains like, Porta John's Pizza, Wal Mart, you name it. Screw em all! Buy local. Buy American!

(3,576 posts)I told them I will not be ordering P.J.s pizza ever again because I think their treatment of their employees is despicable. I did not tell them that I really don't care for their product and don't use it anyway. Also, F Bain Capital owned Dominoes. (edited for typo)

(243 posts)I would really like to think that the people who prepare and serve my food have access to affordable health care.
Yep, I'd like to see that commercial too.

(5,252 posts)because there are many people who would be happy to take the job. In the food industry, there aren't many that are difficult to replace. If someone gets sick and can't come to work, hire someone else.

(72,631 posts)Let alone everybody else who actually likes/loves pizza. Now I've NEVER had a Papa John's pizza myself, but a move like that, would get me to buy several.
Papa John is an IDIOT, and apparently has one STUPID business model.
This is a way, after he calms down, to save his business.

(1,040 posts)Had a long talk with the better half last night. We are going to go get a Costco membership (they at least donated to the Dems) and cancelling our Sam's Club membership. He freaked at first - 'but they have stuff we NEED!!!'. I told him we could get those same things at Costco or other places - the Waltons didn't need any more of our money.
And as for Papa John's, Applebee's, Olive Garden, etc. ... we make much better food (healthier too) at a much lower cost than they could ever hope to put on our table. Hit them in the pocketbook. Yes, they may be franchises. However, if the franchisees get back to the corporate office that their businesses are hurting because the mouth at the corporate office is spewing @*#* that hurts their bottom line, maybe dear old Papa will think twice.
Is it too much to expect that he 'see the light' and actually take care of his (and his franchisees' employees)? Probably.

(22,000 posts)I'm glad they have Costco here in Korea instead of Wal-Mart (Wal-Mart was in Korea from 1998-2006 though and didn't do well) so I can still support a company that cares about their employees.
