FOX News Simplified.

As was abundantly clear with this last election, FOX News and their cohorts operate in a parallel universe with an opposing reality. Even their nominee operated on the premise that they "would not be dictated by fact finders". Indeed, they believed that if they just accepted their version of "reality", then it would happen. Just as Romney had no concession speech. He also had already made plans for his inauguration party. How shocking it must have been to see the results from the people? The other "reality" never entered their mind. How disturbing it must be to live in such a universe?

FOX News and Hannity and Limbaugh are not "news people". They are an entertainment network with propagandists passionately speaking of what they wish for - not what is the actual reality.

For example, FOX News has a tendency to report on anecdotes, not actual news, and then interpret it as proof of their own moral superiority and the immorality of their liberal opponents. If 5 people in Kansas march with a sign decrying the absence of prayer in school, they will be there with their cameras to report on it. If a couple of homeless people in Denver burn an American flag, they are there to show how "unpatriotic" is the other side. If a small group of people march in support of our war, whichever is happening at the moment, FOX News is there to show us that most of America supports the war machine.

If a family in Mississippi adopts a couple of babies from an orphanage, they are there to show America that conservatives care about babies and to show their followers that it is only conservatives that are anti-abortion, unlike those evil liberals. If there are a dozen people protesting a Christmas scene on the Courthouse steps, the FOX cameras are there to show that it is those liberals that hate Christmas and are anti-Christian.

They never fail to report anecdotal news. But in the process, they miss the big picture. They miss reality. However, they continue to report, over and over, from their bubble. And when reality intervenes, they have no idea what happened?

I'd swear that if they declared Romney the winner of the election, then erected stage sets of the Oval Office, Rose Garden, etc., and broadcast fake press conferences, SOTU addresses and so on, their audience would believe that Romney was actually the president - and that the librul media was just misleading their audiences with this whole Obama is still the prez thing.

It was a shattering of their reality. It is psychologically damaging.

That's why I think the "Romney was actually elected" pretense would work so well. It's what they want to believe anyway - they'd just block out any news or conversation to the contrary, and exist happily in their alternate universe.
